4 WAYS TO USE YOUR FACEBOOK PAGE AS A PR DEPARTMENT

By

Many agents simply don't realize the power at their fingertips. In the past, businesses paid thousands of dollars to other people or companies to make them look good.

Now, you can do it all yourself on one platform called Facebook (in as little as five minutes per day).

Here are 4 ways you can use your Facebook page as your PR department:

1. Generate goodwill - Post interesting local "Groupons", coupons, and deals to inform your sphere about discounts they'll love. Giving away tickets and gift cards works too!

2. Manage your professional reputation - Post testimonials, success stories, and your accomplishments. Even better...post those of your clients.

3. Respond to bad news - Bad news about the housing market? Put your spin on it by demonstrating how the news will be beneficial to certain segment of potential clients.

4. Get noticed - PR is foremost meant to generate awareness of what you are doing. Typically...the more you do, the better you do it, the more you get noticed. Give it some time but your efforts will get noticed by past and potential clients.

(Most of this can be done on twitter and blogs too but most people are already connected to their sphere on Facebook).

Hi Michele, good points and right in line with what Ben Kinney spoke about at FR.  Did you make the trip to Anaheim?

Hi Michele,

Great tips on Facebook.  I have a facebook business page and am trying to get more participation.  It is so difficult to do.  I offer contests, prizes and put up great information, it's just not clicking.  Not sure how to break out of my rut.

Michele. I see posts here on AR that are both "Pro" and "Con" on Facebook. I'm Pro, this mega site grows by over 100,000 people a day!! Realtors, don't think for an instant your clients and potential clients aren't using Facebook! A simple "plug" every now and then reminds them your a Realtor and when the time comes.....

As with everything, when used properly, Facebook is a fabulous tool.  When used incorrectly can make you look like a fabulous tool.

Great post. The FB can be an amazing tool and a curse if used the wrong way or commented on poorly. I agree with Keith reputation control is so important.

@Judy, you are welcome! I have learned so much from Jarred!

@Joe, I didn't make it to Anaheim, hopefully next year! I did meet Ben Kinney at Raincamp though. :)

@Cindy, try to have your page give good information about the area you live instead of about yourself. Mine is "WHAT'S IN WORCESTER COUNTY"

@Adam, I'm starting reap the benefits and loving it!

@Larry, more and more people are on Facebook! No agent should be without it!

@Keith, keeping your professional image is the key! Testimonials speak louder than words!
