It's such a wonderful time of the year, Spring.  So much new life budding and growing all around us.

Spring Renewal Alive And Thriving!

Last November, we did a major planting project with a local nursery, Countryside, furnishing the suggestions and the end results for making our front lawn hill look better and have more curb appeal to those passing by.

We couldn't have picked a better time of the year to plant because it snowed for the first time this year within 7-10 days after we had this major planting project completed.

Now the bushes, plants and flowers were protected from our winter weather and were coated by the snow to help them grow in the dormant season for them.

I can't wait to see what actually transpires once it gets a bit warmer out.  Barb, from Countryside, will be back out to check on the progress of the healthiness of what was planted last November and will be giving suggestions and tips, if needed.

Karen's Tips

It is such a thrill to stand back and just wait for the warmer weather to see the transition in our hill and what it will look like when it is all growing, budding, and coming out from its deep sleep.

I can't wait to see the results from our November planting.  I'm just anticipating this year's growing months to see the transition in our hill.

If any of you would like to get similar results with any of your troubled lawn spots, I strongly recommend Countryside if you are in my area.  They are the nicest people I have ever dealt with, they know their stuff, and their inventory is phenomenal.

Occasionally, I'll just head out to Countryside just to walk their premises to see all the wonderful bushes, flowers, trees, etc. that they have on their grounds.

Isn't that going to be great?  I know it's not much to look at right now, but wait.  You'll get the pics as soon as I can snap them this spring.

Margaret, I wasn't sure if this was going to be appropro for the Spring Contest.  But it gave me a way to brag about finally getting my husband to consent to doing this work on the hill.  The slope is great enough that there was no way he could mow but he didn't want to do what I had been suggesting.  It always helps when you bring in a pro to help you out with your scenario.  A lot like real estate.

Hi Suzanne.  This is going to be a treat to keep you all in the loop as I get to watch this project grow and beautify the grounds as well.

Is there an easy way to post the second on this series when the time comes.  I usually have to peck around here until I find what I need and then use it.  Any ideas or suggestions?  Anyone out there????

I really like the looks of the rock work that is part of the landscape.  In Gold Country, California, we have a number of old rock walls that were created during the California Gold rush in the mid-1800s.  They always provide an opportunity to step back in time.

Myrl, what an interesting thought.  Do you want those rocks?  I've been trying to get rid of them and put something else in their place for years now.  They're really a hazard here.  The wild animals use them to get up and down off the driveway and the raccoons are so heavy, they move the suckers.  They've become a hassle.  They'll do for now but the intention is to remove them and replace them with something else.  They look ok for the time being and you're right, they do add to the total landscaping mode.  Thanks for the kind words.
