A cartwheel for the notary signing agent

By

When I arrived at the closing yesterday, the borrowers daughter greeted me. She was probably 8 years old. She introduced me to her parents: "This is my dad." "And this is my mom." Her father responded, "She's the information source in the family."

cartwheelDuring the signing she wanted to stay around and watch her parents sign the loan documents. After a while she became impatient, just sitting there and watching. She got up and began doing gymnastics. Her mother told her not to. But she kept getting up and going through the motions as if she were going to do a cartwheel.  I could sense that this was something she really wanted to do.

Finally at the end of the signing I asked her parents if it was okay for her to do a cartwheel for me. She didn't need any prodding. She did a cartwheel, right there in the living room. I applauded and said, "Bravo!"  She was beaming with pride.  Her father explained that it was something new she had learned.

This is one of the things I like about being a notary signing agent: getting to meet so many people. And it's especially nice when you get entertained by their kids.

perfect 10By the way, it was a very good cartwheel. I'll give it a 10.

Missy, she was so anxious to do the cartwheel. I knew she would have been very disappointed if she didn't have a chance to show it to a guest.

Leon this is a great post to remind us its not just about the money,

This is one of the reasons I truly love this profession.  I have met some wonderful people and their children.

One particular appointment sticks out in my mind, where a little girl was right beside me asking me all kinds of questions.  I gave her my legal pad and a pen and she decided she was going to draw a picture.  The parents and I proceeded with the closing as she was drawing away.

When we were all finished she showed me the picture that she had drawn and it was me!  Not only a wonderful drawing, but a title to the picture which read "My Aunt Lisa".  I was smiling ear to ear.

Not quite sure what I did to become part of the family, but I was honored as it had really touched my heart.

Lisa, that's a beautiful story. And you're right. It's not always about the money. Those kinds of moments are priceless.

Know your talkin my talk!!  Yes they are!  I feel very fortunate to have come across this profession because of these very reasons.

And I would quess there are more stories out there like this.  Sometimes we get so hung up on "Today" we forget why we do this as a whole and why we love being SA's.

There's definitely more than a little variety in our profession. I love meeting new people and discovering new ways to use my stamp to earn a living!

I used to do cartwheels ... some 40+ years ago ... but no way this old body can even begin to do one now! It's always wonderful to see such life and spirit in young people.
