We were SWEATY!

For the first time all together as an office, we spent a day working on the Habitat for Humanity house on Penn Ave. in Portland which will be sold to Mahdi Abdullah, his wife and eight kids.  They are the cutest family, and were helping us out all morning.

The Abdullahs have been volunteering for Habitat for five and a half years (almost 3 times the average upfront commitment for a Habitat family), and are finally first in line for a house.

We had a great time, and despite the heat the day really flew by!  Pictures are below (biggest mistake of the day: not taking the group photo BEFORE we started sweating):

Michelle, looks like fun!  I have been wanting to donate some time in my area...have not gotten around to it yet.

Do you make a commitment for one home, or one day?  How does that work?

WOW.  Isn't that a bit warm for Maine this time of year?
And doesn't it feel good to have helped someone get a house by helping to build it instead of sell it?

What a great way to spend the day. A little hard work for helping someone have a home...... priceless!

What a great way to help others! It looks like everyone had a good time. It must be so rewarding to know this family with 8 children will soon have a home of their own!
