Ready to Sell Your House - Part 1 - Getting it Ready

So the Super Bowl is becoming a faded memory and here in Northeast Ohio we we're emerging from hibernation.

In Northeast Ohio that means the Spring Real Estate Market is here!

Ready To Sell Your House - Part 1

let's talk about

Getting it Ready

It's no secret that the real estate market is a bit tough right now and you will have some stiff competition.

Let's use Willoughby, Ohio as an example

Trend Graphix Willoughby Ohio 3/10/11

Here we can see that in the last few months there have been around 200 homes for sale in Willoughby, Ohio and of those, 8 - 13 homes have sold.

So the question is - How do you get ready, willing and able buyers to pick your home?

Answer -  SEDUCE THE BUYER!

Think about it like dating.  Ladies, you wouldn't show up without a little make up and a cute outfit and guys you'd at least take a shower and put on some clean clothes.  So, why would you let a buyer into your home that wasn't at least spiffed up a bit?

Here's a few tips to consider When Getting Your House Ready to Sell
  • There's nothing like a Fresh Coat of Paint, New Carpet or Cleaned Carpet to make a house feel and look better.
  • The buyers want to buy your house not your problems.  If there is an issue - fix it.
  • Bring in a home-stager to help package the house product.  -- Keep in mind the way you live in your house when it's for sale will be different.
  • Make the house warm & inviting on the outside too.
  • Keep pathways, driveways and yards clean and easily accessible.
  • Eliminate strong lingering odors like cigarette smoke and cooking fish.

Hope this helps you
To Get Your House Ready to Sell.

Christine, preparation is so important for homeowners getting ready to sell.  Takes a lot more planning than picking a date, price and putting a sign in the yard :) Great advice on presentation factors and steps to work on making a great impression with buyers

Informative post Christine! Home staging does work!

I use an analogy with my clients that if they wanted to sell their car, they hopefully would wash it, wax it, clean out all the personal belongings before putting that FOR SALE sign on it. The same thing applies to the home!

HAPPY FRIDAY!
