Four Seasons at Mirage in Barnegat, NJ is considered a K Hovananian development, but about 500 of the 1200 homes in this 55+ community of about 1200 homes were not Hovnanian built.
Four Seasons at Mirage in Barnegat is a gated community just off Exit 67 of the Garden State Parkway. This retirement community offers active adults, 55+, an enormous 23,000 sq ft clubhouse, a state of the art fitness center, activity rooms, a library, ballroom, spa, saunas, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a putting green, tennis courts and a picnic pavilion
Construction of Four Seasons at Miragebegan in the late 1990's. The developer and builder in the beginning was Menk Construction. And at that time, since Barnegat didn't have a large building construction/inspection department all inspections were conducted by the Ocean County construction department. Almost from the beginning, there were structural and drainage problems with many of those 477 homes.
The developer (Menk) has made structural repairs, in two phases, to those homes needing work. Some homeowners declined. Barnegat Township is now involved in a law suit with Menk and Ocean County, suing for the costs of engineering, inspection and legal fees associated with the county permitting and code violations.
Four Seasons at Mirage in Barnegat was completed in 2007. Homes range in size from 1200 to 3400 square feet. All homes feature open floor plans, 2 or 3 bedrooms, and 1or 2 car garage.
