We all know that Blogging can bring you business. That's one of the reasons we do what we do. It does take some time before you really begin to see results, but then what doesn't? When you breakdown all the benefits of Blogging, there are quite a few valuable and justified reasons to do it. But, are we missing a very important ingredient for our "Blogs" and their success? Take a second to look at just a few of the many benefits of blogging:

  • Social networking to create and build relationships and to grow your referral business.
  • Search engine optimization (SEO) so Google, Yahoo and other "Search" engines place your Blog on the top of the list! Getting to the first page, or being #1 is the ultimate goal.
  • Promoting and advertising yourself, your business, your services and your products to the end user, the consumer, community or other targeted audiences.
  • Resources and Credibility. 50,000 resources here on Active Rain. Your Blog is what builds your credibility to viewers and other Bloggers. Your content, your knowledge and let's not forget, your personality. The comments from others on your Blog are very powerful. They might even establish you more credibility than your post. (just my opinion)
  • It's FREE! Websites cost money and take time to maintain and update, not to mention the time it takes to learn the whole "HTML" thing. Your Blog will pass up your website on the search engines eventually. Your Blog is updated with fresh content more often than your website, and people don't comment on your website. Blogging just might be the least cost, most effective and powerful marketing tool there is for your business.

 There are lots of reasons that many of us Blog, but here's the most important question at the end of the day... is it working and getting you business? This idea hit me yesterday when I was handed a business card, and it had the Agents "Blog" URL listed just below their email address. This is the first Business Card I have ever seen with a "Blog" URL on the card. Is your Blog on your Business Card?

Do you promote your Blog to your community? How about to your existing clients so they can refer others? Is your Blog on all your Flyer's, open house postcards, even on your sign riders? Do you have links scattered all over the Internet with other community supported websites and Blogs?

We rely on Google to do their part in getting us recognition and placement on the web, but are we doing our part "In the REAL WORLD? Are we doing all we can to market our Blogs? How do we generate more business and success? There are so many who don't even know our Blogs exist! I suggest at least having it on your email signatures if you use Outlook, Gmail, or Yahoo email.

Right now, many other Bloggers read your Blog, but is the audience your after reading your posts? Are you waiting for them to find you based on the proper Google keyword search? Make sure that the "REAL World" knows your Blog exists. Just like your website, and your designations, you need to promote it every opportunity you get. The outside world needs to know about your Blog! Just another thought provoking post that I hope inspires you to look beyond our internal Cyber community, and find ways to get "Your Blog into the outside, REAL World!"

Where is your Blog today? Where should it be and how are you going to get it there?

Hi Brad...I just promoted the blog in the easiest way possible. I sent out an e-newsletter to two contact groups (Realtors and Prospect/Clients).  In it I had the Headlines and a few lines of each blog article, then a link to my AR posts.  It was the easiest newsletter I've sent out!

Candy - you are so sweet (no pun intended) LOL!  I'mglad you are getting some value from my posts!  Keep me accountable, and if I start to lose it, or drop the ball, I'll expect a contact from you ok?  Thanks for the wonderful comment! :-)

Bob - are you getting your Blog out there in any way shape or form?  Sharing is great, but implementation is much better.  I'd love to hear how you're getting your Blog information out to your community and farm areas? Is it on your farm flyer's you send out?  How about your just listed or just sold cards.  Even your open house flyer's and announcements might be a great way to drive readers and potential customers to your Blog. What's your thought?

I have my blog url on my business card. In addition to that, I reference my blog on every phone appointment. Though this has proven effective, I could do better at marketing it out there more!

Great encouragement to promote our blogs, Brad.  I've gotten calls and emails from members of the media who have found me online while researching articles.  I've gotten lots of inquiries from folks I've never met before.  As the blog material grows, it's gratifying to see the community presence expanding.  Now to actually close a deal from an AR customer!

Nathan - good call, but while you're waiting to order your next set of Bus Cards, there are probably 5 or 6 other ways you could be getting your blog more exposure.  If just 10 new people a day were exposed to your blog, that's 3650 new readers in a year!  Man, now that's a farm!!  :-)

Missy - I love your posts and Blog too!  You're a huge inspiration to all of us on AR, now you need to expose yourself more to the REAL World so you can carry that huge inspiration outside our Blogosphere Community.  I know there are hundreds in your area that could benefit from your AWESOME posts, but they don't search Google, and they don't know your Blog exists!  Business cards will help, but I know you'll come up with 20 other ways that you could get your information out there.  I love that this post gets folks thinking.  I was going to title this one:

                                                                 "OUTSIDE THE BOX"

Your comments are always so positive and reassuring, you are just too kind Missy Caulk, and loved by so many!! Do me a favor, don't ever change! Thanks for just being you!!  :-)

Hi Brad! Great post..as usual. :) I love your blog outside of AR by the way. That widget is great! I put my blog url under my signature on all my emails as soon as it was up and running. I also send out emails to my SOI with the links to my website, AR page, and all my blogs. I get a lot of emails back about them. Gotta love emails.....they are a free way to communicate and promote your websites and blogs. Thanks for the information. This post looks great!

I've had "Visit Our Community Blog at ....." printed on the rear of our business cards and I have a feedburner signature with our blog on it on every email that goes out.  Publizing and marketing a blog is the next huge step after learning to create and write one.  Excellent thoughts!

Paula - well....do I get the $64,000?  the answer is YES!  Blogging WILL get you business when done properly. I just met with an agent this morning who is taking a listing thanks to her Blog on AR. She came up and thanked me for inviting her to AR. It does work, so put it on your cards and anything else you can think of that gets the word (and Blog) out there!  Thanks for reading and always leaving behind your very kind comments! :-)

Brad - my next idea is doing video interviews with local businesses we like and recommend and have them on our outside blog as either sharing info - like the roofer CEO I did this week that shares on the new roofing laws going into effect 10/1 or the owner of a local carpet cleaning company discussing his eco-friendly solutons that I also interviewed this week or the local kayaking company that does eco-friendly tours.

Here's my idea:

   Interview and write about businesses you like and trust;

+ Share your Google love with them and email them the links;

+ Have them share it with their customers and SOI;

Equals new traffic to our outside blog and soon we'll be having a monthly drawing for "new subscribers"

What do you think?

P.S. Keep up the great job and I love your new outside blog!!1

Hey Brad - well let's see, my blog may be headed where it should be and I'm trying to figure out just how to actually get there.  I like your idea of the blog address on my business cards.  My partner uses my blog address in the signatures he has set up for me, but I never think to do that myself.  I have it on my website, but I'm just not sure I have it showing up anywhere else.  What is the matter with me?

I need to think about new business cards, so perhaps I'll be putting this on there.  I'll be needing to order some soon - almost out.  What better time, huh?

Brad, your posts are always so helpful - thanks for sharing all you share here with us.

Ann - Part II of this post will be all the ways you can promote your blog outside of the box!  Missy gave me the idea for that one.  I like the idea of promoting it other than electronically.  Many consumers don't even know what a Blog is. It just looks like a website to them.  Heck, many agents still don't know what a Blog is, imagine what's going to happen when the world catches on!  The window of opp is now!  Glad you're on board, and moving ahead of the pack! You'll be very glad you did...of course you know that already!  Be by to check your blog later this weekend. I owe about 250 members some comments. So much for my blog this weekend! LOL!!  Have a great weekend! B-)

Brad, thanks for the reminder that it's even more important to link to your blog than it is to link to your profile.  In tech classes, we have always told agents to drive traffic to your website (using your URL on business card or in printed materials).  Now we have to learn to do the same with blogsites.

Among all those linking options that AR awards points to, it would be nice to have an HTML graphic that says "View My Blog"..

The business card is a great start, but just imagine all the possibilities.  What about your outgoing message on your voicemail or on your cell phone message. Just spend 10 minutes thinking about it and I bet you'll come up with 10 ways to promote your Blog to the "Real World".  Watch for my next post with that title!!  LOL! :-) Thanks for commenting, I really appreciate it!

Donna - YOU GO GIRL!! :-) Glad to hear you are promoting yourself in all the ways possible. My challenge to you would be, can you come up with 3 areas that you're not currently promoting it that would be a benefit to you or your potential customers?  I bet you can if you think about it for a few minutes...see, there's an idea popping into your head right now isn't there? LOL!  Thanks Donna for always coming by and leaving your generous and very kind comments!

Joe - Time is on your side! Oh yes it is! I hear a song in the background here! LOL! You're welcome and I hope this will be helpful to you.  Use the time when you're driving or waiting somewhere to think of all the ways you can put this post to work for you and your blog or website.  The possibilities are endless!!  :-)

Mike - you get it! Thanks!  I'm just trying to heighten the awareness here for exactly what you're already doing!

Don't limit yourself to what you know, use the knowledge of others to succeed and grow!

Brad - you're so full of links, and links to links. I could spend all evening just chasing your links.

Brad, thanks again for the tip you gave me above!

Today, I got my first inbound buyer inquiry off my blog on AR.  I was waiting to see if and when it would happen..it's proof that there is real world value in participating here.

Nancy - do people like you because of your information or because of who you are?  I think both, but who you are is more why your clients and friends choose you.  Have a yak blog and a business blog!  There's no limit to what you can do, especially having a focused purpose for each blog! BTW - love the picture of your personality! Keep on bloggin!!  :-)

Eric - that's the best news I have heard today! Congrats my friend!  Need a title and escrow guy? LOL!  I'm glad your efforts are paying off here, it does take a bit of time and effort, but I know quite a few members who do really well from their blogs here! Way to go, thanks for letting us all know here! Makes me wanna shout it out to everyone!

      Eric - Let's make this a goal for once a week!! "I got my first inbound buyer inquiry off my blog on AR"

great Idea - Put your blog URL on your business cards! I hava a link on my E-mail signature. I just read today  about one guy who gives out Mouse pads with his website and blog URL on it. That struck me as brilliant! When you are on the internet- I bet every one of those people have atleast read some of his blog!

Paul - love the mouse pad idea, I wonder what others we can come up with.  Refrigerator magnets, shopping carts, for sale signs, mailers, flyer's, how about some stickers for the kids at school. Remember, it's your Blog in the real world that creates successes like Eric's above!  :-)

Thanks for the tip, Brad. I'll be posting my blog on my new cards.

Also, I'll be writing a blog this week about some new sites I think you'll like. These sites are too cool.

Julie - that was sweet.  I hear the new rating system and the new face lift here will be awesome.  I got to see a preview of it and I liked it.  Cleaner, neater, easier to read and navigate, I think you'll like it too!  Thanks for commenting, and have a great rest of the weekend!  :-)
