The big collector car show and flea market, Fall Carlisle starts next Wednesday, October 3 and runs through Sunday October 7 at the former Carlisle Fairgrounds on the north side of Carlisle. The first show in Carlisle was in 1974 and attracted about 600 vendors and 13000 attendees that paid the princely sum of $1 to enter.
In 1981, Carlisle Productions purchased the fairgrounds and transformed it into a venue designed to support the needs of car enthusiasts. They now present about 10 events every year, with the Spring and Fall shows being the largest and best attended.

Admission this year is $9 for adults and children under 12 are FREE.
If you are arriving from the Pennsylvania Turnpike, plan some extra time once you get near Carlisle. This show is famous for the backups on both the turnpike and Interstate 81 in the Carlisle area from the extra traffic generated by the shows, especially on Friday and Saturday. Most of the local folks stay away from the area during the shows and use PA 641 (from Mechanicsburg) or US Route 11 (from the Plainfield exit of I-81) to get to the show.
