Senator Mike Haridopolos - Chair of the Florida Senate Tax and Finance Committee and someone at the very heart of the Property Tax debate in Florida, will be a guest on my radio show - The Home Team - this coming Sunday at Noon.
The Senator is actually a returning guest even though we gave him a hard time last time he was on - a credit to him.
The whole property tax issue is now in question in Florida after a Leon County Circuit Court Judge threw the amendment off the ballot in January because it was so confusing.
Senator Haridopolos is on the record on my show saying he would ultimately favor the abolition of property taxes in the State. He also was very clear that some level of portability needed to be present in any legislation - something that was missing from the final draft of the Bill and the Amendment
His own website says the following: "He has stood up for Floridians against more government, higher taxes, and unrestrained spending. Mike is a co-founder of the Freedom Caucus that led the fight against the tax increase proposed during the 2002 session and has signed the Americans for Tax Reform (ATR) pledge each year in which he has been in the Florida Legislature. Beginning in January of 2007, Mike is traveling across the state to meet with citizens in a series of town hall meetings, designed to address the growing crisis of property taxes." -
Clearly he and I have a lot to discuss. You too can call in and question him by dialing 407 916 5400 or toll free at 1-866-916-5400. The Home Team airs every Sunday at Noon on 540 WFLA which you can go to and tune in on line if you are not in Central Florida.
