Friday Funnies: Relator: (Pronounced Reel-uh-tor) a relative that dabbles in your real estate transaction.

Ouch, Wanda--not very funny, actually, isn't it?  Happens way too often.  And I have yet to see the agent who will insist on their procuring cause case; it's just not worth the pain.  But maybe I'm wrong about that...there are a lot of people out there that approach this a little nastier!

A referral fee might be in order, though.

Sorry to hear that Wanda.  Procuring cause is exactly where I was going.  But you are right Catarine, it usually isn't worth the pain.  And I hear a buyers agent agreement doesn't stand up in court.  So, sometimes Realtors get tossed aside like a dirty dish rag.

Wanda, when I started I spent a lot of time with buyer prospects only to lose the sale to another agent.  I now work on securing the relationship with a buyer agreement before I spend a lot of time working with them...

Wanda,  Wish we never had to have this happen to any of us agents, but it does way to much.  Of well, we keep working at this because we love OUR jobs!

Make sure they hold onto your phone number, they may need a kidney down the line and you have two.

No do not tell me that happened to you, this year we have certainly had our share of stinky clients, that sucks plain and simple. Just as bad my client who listed with another agent at the price I TOLD him to list at. Some people....I feel for you Wanda

And when they say that I tell them to have ""Velda's nephew's sister's auntie on her mother's other side" to call me because since I was the procurring cause on this transaction I'll be happy to pay her a referral fee.

@Liz (#11): I'd say, let the relat-ors take care of those kidney donations!!

Wanda, auntie, uncle, cousin, agent down the street, it doesn't matter who they are.  What is the right thing to do and loyalty, they don't exist anymore :(

Yup, I guess it's happened to all of us. They can make us feel Realtorn up!

Wanda, that has happened to me once or twice.  Once someone told me that they decided to use someone else because that agent was just starting out, needed the business and that I looked so busy, but thanks for all your help...what are you going to do...it happens. 

I thought thanks to Charlie Sheen it was not Real-duh-tor (Winning) but I could be wrong. I was drinking my Tiger's blood wondering how I was going to get business tomorrow. (I guess just go to someone's family reunion and tell them I'm poor and their long lost uncle)
