Pay it forward – Just the Basics
We just never know when an opportunity will arise where we can show kindness and make a difference in someone’s life. One of my neighbors is going through a tough spell. Jenny is a single mother of two children. She works in the medical profession, but her hours at work have been cut in half.
More than likely she will lose her home. I am helping as much as I can, but without steady income, there is not much we can do.
Jenny called me last week with great news. She had a job interview in downtown Indianapolis. She said she did not have enough money to buy gas to drive to the interview and wondered if she could borrow just enough money for that. I told her of course and to please fill the tank!
She also needed help getting the two kids off to school since she would have to leave for the interview before they got on the school bus. ‘No problem!’ I told her and went over at 7:00 A.M. so she could leave. Got the kids on the bus without a hitch.
While I was there, I noticed there were not many groceries in the house. I made a quick run to the store and bought the basics plus some treats for the kids and took them back to the house.
Jenny was surprised and grateful when she got back home. Proof that you can pay it forward with just the basics. No word on the job yet, but we are very hopeful!!
