Swarthmore is a quaint little college town (Swarthmore College) and is among the most sought after communities in Delaware County. A walk around the town reveals its charm instantly.  The shops in the "Ville", as the locals refer to the shopping district, are the perfect combination of upscale and inviting.  The local Co-op supermarket is a refreshing change of pace.  The Village Restaurant is a local favorite.  A pizza shop, a music shop, a great used & rare book store, some great unique gift shops, and the local hardware store provide for your needs (and maybe a few needs you didn't know you had!)  A new Baskin Robbins / Dunkin Donuts has replaced the long-beloved corner pharmacy, but they moved in in a way that truly has brought value to the neighborhood, without destroying the look of this beautiful shooping district.  The train to Philadelphia stops right in the heart of the Ville, making this a great place for those that like to be convenient to Center City Philadelphia, or University City. The architecture of the homes varies from house to house -- No "cookie cutter" developments here.   The Wallingford-Swarthmore school district was recently recognized by Philadelphia Magazine as the best in Delaware County, with Strath Haven High School being ranked among the top performers in the entire greater Philadelphia region.   Those who appreciate the Arts will enjoy the offerings at the Swarthmore Players Club, as well as frequent concert offerings at the college venues.  For outdoor enthusiasts, the entire campus of Swarthmore College is designated as an arboretum.  For serious shoppers, the Springfield mall is right outside of town.  Public transportation (SEPTA bus service runs right through town, and stops at the mall, too) is easy to access.  Interstates 95 and 476 are closeby, and Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) is 10 minutes by taxi, making Swarthmore a great location for the business commuter.

If you are looking to buy a home and want a small town atmosphere, with ready access to the ammenities, the city, this is a great place for you.
