Anyone who has lived in Texas may appreciate Live Oak trees and many oif us have seen some large ones.  But the one in this photo is one that I have never seen an equal to.  It is in northwest San Antonio.  I paced off the trunk in several directions and determined that it is around 9 feet across.  I can't estimate the height or girth of the canopy, but this has to be one of the most impressive oak trees in the state.

Huge San Antonio oak tree trunk

I read about what is called the Goose Island Oak, or the Big Tree on the Texas coast.  It has a circumference of over 42 feet and is estimated to be around 1,000 years old.  If my math is right, the San Antonio oak may be larger than the Big Tree.
