In
the past 10 years the population has increased in Maryland, which does
not come a surprise.
Howard County
has had a 16% population increase, one of eight Counties in Maryland
that have increased by 15% or more. The demographics of the area
indicate a great deal of diversity within the County.

Terrific schools, low crime, excellent central location close to DC and
Baltimore and Military installations are solid reasons why Howard
County is the choice of many home-buyers.
Baltimore City
is the only area that had a population decrease, which could be due in
part to the high property taxes and wide scale construction of the
medical facilities that have replaced residential areas.

I think it is all summed up rather succinctly by your comment:

Great job with this post Ellie. Love the map showing the population increases in your neck of the woods!
Ellie. not only has Howard County grown, but Arlington County in Virginia has as well. I am just amazed when we go back to Arlington. The only reason we go back is to renovate our condo and to sell it.
Ellie--Interesting stats. Somewhat similar to Erie in that the city's numbers decrease, but the suburbs and surrounding townships increase. The city has higher taxes & cost for services while the suburbs are lower in both category. Property cost less in the city, but higher outside the city. The Hispanic propulation is rising everywhere.
Good job!
