Okay, so maybe you're not a freak. I'll let you proclaim that for yourself.
I was listening to the Dave Ryan in the morning show on KDWB this morning, and they were talking about what a "freak" the co-host, Wilson, is because she doesn't like to be hugged or hold hands. The conversation, as you would guess, broadened, and listeners began to call in and announce their freakish ways.
I was laughing at some of them. They were hilarious, after all.
But then I got to thinking about my own little "freak" traits.
I hate odd numbers. This seems to be getting worse all the time. I'm actually kind of scared of them. Jeff Dotseth, our North Metro Realtor Association President prices his listings as $xxx,777. It freaks me out. Granted, I understand that 777 is supposed to be lucky. However, it's an odd number, and that just can't be a good thing.
I eat things in pairs. If I'm eating chips or something similar, I eat two at a time. One is scary.
I talk to my cats. We're talking like complete conversations. They don't talk back to me of course, (not in English, anyway!) but I do tell them about my day, what I did, and generally remind them of their good and bad traits.
I apply lotion at least three times. This gets really bad in the winter, but when I apply lotion, I usually have to do it twice more before my hands feel moisturized. Freak trait, or just bad lotion?
And last but not least - I tested "at risk" for OCD. In my high school psychology class, we took a test to see how likely we were to become OCD at some time in our lives. (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, in case I lost ya there!) I got done with the test and felt pretty good about it. It had never occurred to me that I had any OCD traits whatsoever. However, when the teacher said "Okay, there may be one or two of you who scored in the sixties, and everyone else is probably lower than that...." I became a little alarmed.
I scored a 93.
My graduating class still knows me best as "OCD girl".
Hey, we can't all be perfect, can we?
