39 Comments on My Dog Was Reunited With Her Sister, by Sheer Coincidence
OMG, that is such a great story. How cool is that? I love it. I have 2 cats - brother and sister. I went back a year later to the original owner and the grandpa cat was there. I think the grandpa smelled my cats and kept hugging me. I've never seen a cat actually hug someone. It was so adorable.
What a great story! You should have made it public. I just love it, and of course am a dog lover myself.
GOOD MORNING KRISTINE! What a nice nice story! It is ironic. I think that the neighbors name is Nicole is ironic too. Thinking of you and thank you for the email - it's on my list to write you back today!
Jeff- 3 years later and I still find it incredilbe that Lucy found her sister and found a great friendship with a wonderful family 3 houses up!
Chris - Yes the are, and my dog makes me and our family happy every day!
Nikki - Thank you, and I of course thinks she beautiful - I'm a little bias - lol!
Jeffrey- I love anything dogs and now Lucy and Madee are their own little pack!
Tony & Darcy- Shelter animals are so loving and make some of the best pets. Since adopting Lucy from MP Animal shelter, I volunteer there and it's not the exception like people think, it's the rule. If Lucy wasn't so dog aggressive, I'd probably have shelter 20 dogs! - If I ever win the lottery...
Donne - I feel the same way - I love it when I see dog owners who are crazy about their dogs - I can't imagine how you can't be.
J.A.- Me too! Animals and children can do no wrong - now with adults it's a different story - lol.
Robin & Sue- Yes, kids are so open to so many possibilities because they don't have the blinders on that we adult have because of "busy lives". If it weren't for Sein, Bret, Josi and Copper, we would probably have never come to know and love this family and Lucy wouldn't know her sister lived 3 house up! (They are the greatest kids too)
Cheryl - Being such a huge animal person, I couldn't agree more!
Gary- I always say that the truth is sometimes stranger than fiction. It so cute to watch them play because their personalities are so much the same. However, we never put food or treats out because that's one thing that they will and have fought over - just like kids - lol.
Gayle- I have no doubt that this was divine intervention. God gives us gifts all the time, we just have to open our eyes and see them. Not only is Lucy one of my greatest gifts in life, the friendship that blossomed from our dogs is extraordinary and it's a win-win for everyone.
Gabrielle- Luckily we both have fenced in backyards, so they can get together anytime. You can't even mention "Madde" or Lucy goes crazy! So cute!
VB - I have always been such a dog lover and Lucy has helped me every single day since and during this family tradegy - she has been so intuned with my emotions and sticks to me like glue, showering me love and it has helped me beyond words and I really mean that.
Vickie - I really believe that Lucy and Madee knew they were sisters - dogs remember smell, and that's why they didn't fight - they new each other and love to be together as often as possible. We have to spell Madee's name or Lucy will go crazy. She even knows the word "sister" so we can't use that word anymore either - too smart for her own good!
Pat- Especially considering Lucy and Madee are mutts and have a mix of 5 different breeds! That's part of what makes this story so incredible - how do 8 puppies look exactlly alike and they're not even close to being pure breds. There are so many ways to help homeless dogs and becoming involved in the chain of volenteers that bring the pups up from mostly the South is as important as any.
I'm so with you Roger. God was giving us all a gift and Madee's family, the Wilce's have become our best friends and thier kids call us Aunt Kris and Uncle Marty. We feel very blessed for the whole situation!
Wallace - Your story warmed my heart and those pups are so lucky to have found such a loving owner and wonderful home. Thanks for sharing your story - gives me a big smile on my face! Such adorable puppies!
Debbie - That's such a great story - so cute. I also love cats but my husband and son are highly allergic so I can't have any. When I was a kid, I brought home every stray cat I found and my mom usually ended up letting me keep them.
Andrea- I should find a forum to share my Lucy and Madee story - dogs lovers like myself love to hear about happy ending for animals who find loving homes.
Trust me Gabrielle - in our house we always had to say, "Our Nicole?" or "Our friend Nicole" to clarify and it was confusing. BTW - This family has been so supportive and helped our whole family especially my son from the day this accident occurred. We are very blessed to have them in our lives and we love their 4 kids and they still delight in the fact that Lucy and Madee are sisters!
Kristine, Lucy is so cute, glad you have another family member! It is nice when all the dogs get along with the extended family brings their pets!
Thanks Joan, Lucy is so cute, especially her personality - quite the diva, but it a good way. She has us all smitten!
Kristine - What a great story. Lucy is adorable, and it's uncanny how much she looks like her sister, Madee, as you say, considering the 5 different breeds in their lineage. Isn't it neat that it was the children who figured out the dogs were related. Adults would probably never even consider such a remote possibility. Love that you've found new friends through the dogs, too.
Thanks Kathy, They are really cute together and it is so weird that all the puppies looked exactly alike! And you're right, adults aren't paying attention enough or are to cynical to even think that could be a possibility - but the kids knew!
Kristine, the pictures of the dogs are cute - grabs the readers. Animals and kids will draw attention almost all the time. Interesting read.
Kristine, Its a good thing you choose different color leashes or how would you tell them apart? What a coincidence indeed.
My biggest coincidence is in a blog I wrote about an agent who saw my house and thought my chandeliers looked familiar, turns out my husband bought her in-laws house as a tear down and took them out seeing they had value and would look great in our home.
Barbara - What's more pute than animals and kids? Thanks for your kind comment!
Ellen - Wow, not that is a coincendence - I'll have to go back through your blogs and find it - what month did you write it - I really love to read it!
Nice story. Let me tell you about Lucy and Lancelot. Lucy was found wandering at the entrance of the Blue Ridge Parkway, between Waynesville and Sylva, NC. Sweet little beagle type dog. A friend was returning a humane trap to the Animal Shelter in Waynesville a few days later and found Lancelot. Spitting image of Lucy. Someone had turned him into the shelter because he had a little deformity of his paw. Brought Lancelot home (as well as Lily - but that's another story). Lance and Lucy were twins. So sweet. Had them both for better than 10 years.
What would we do without dogs? What would we do without the kinship with people who can't do without dogs?
Thanks so much for the blog and the comments from your followers.

Great story, Kristine! My first Sheltie, Sundance, had a brother named Butch who had just been adopted when I showed up to the pet store. Never did find out where Butch lived, but today I'm sure they're both reunited in doggie heaven.
Kristine, That is a great story! Such a small world! Nice that they are reunited and it sounds like they recognized each other by smell.
When I rescued my cat from an abusive owner, she was 1 1/2 years old. I was not able to take her brother who she had lived with up to that point, he was not up for adoption. A few months later I found out her brother had been adopted by others. I often wish it were different. Glad yours has a good ending!
Gloria
Kristine, I found it
Old Is New, and only a Realtor may know!
Mona- love your story about Lucy and Lancelot! So wonderful you were able to save Lucy and Lancelot from a life on the streets or worse. Rescue dogs more than any know we saved them and they gives us nothing but unconditional love. I feel so blessed to have my Lucy and it's so great to hear when other animals have a happy ending. All three of your dogs were so Lucky to have you and you them! Thanks for sharing your story - I love a happy ending!
John- I'm sure they are reunited and snuggled up together in heaven. I hope to live a long life, but when I do pass, I can't wait to see my pets. I miss them all, but it amazes me the capacity we have to continue to love new pets when others pass. Thanks for sharing your story!
Gloria - I'm so glad that you were there to rescue the sister and usually people who adopt, do it all for the right reasons (unlike an impetuous by from a pet store where people realize the work involved and they end up in shelters.) I'm sure you cat's sister found a loving home and both cats didn't have to suffer anymore at the hand of an abuser (which by the way - I think they should be shot!)
Ellen - I can't wait to check out your post and will get back to you!
Kristine, That is the nicest, feel-good story. So glad I caught this tonight after a very long week. Your Lucy sounds like the light of your life. Isn't it amazing what animals can do to our lives? Thank you for sharing this.
Thank you Elyse - and yes, Lucy is the light of my life! Wherever I go, she goes - we are always together except work - not good to bring along your pup when staging homes - lol!
