It's a great day...Jeanne, daughter from Baltimore, arrived today...to visit with Bruce and relieve me from a bit of hospital duty. She could not have arrived at a better time. After 22 days in hospital both of us are more than weary, BUT progress in healing is on-going. I know that Bruce will heal and achieve his goal of a complete recovery; it's just going to take more time and patience than we ever expected.

We are eternally grateful to Bruce's blogger fans, prayer groups and all of you who provide continued support for us...including the "Hot Dog Club."

Meanwhile, I'm taking this opportunity to go off subject...

Who enjoys the pleasure of wine and discovering of good deals?  One of my most favorite wines is Italian Pinot Grigio...I recently discovered an absolute joy to the palette called Terramia Pinot Grigio 2006 (Della Provincia Di Pavia). It has a "light, dry, fresh taste...good w/ fish, poultry, and hard cheeses (taken from label)"...plus enjoying on the lanai watching the sunset with friends accompanied w/ fresh fruit, cheese, crackers and fascinating conversation!

Go to Foodland or the Navy Commissary for prices ranging from $7.00 - 9.00...full price is $11.99 or more depending upon where you shop.

More to share, but it's time to sleep.

Good Luck, Good Lending & Aloha

Linda, I'm not much of a wine drinker but will keep your tip for reference.  I always did want to develop a taste for the stuff. =)  Hugs to Bruce!

I'm so very happy to hear Bruce is on the mend. Get your well deserved rest Linda.

I tend to favor something in a box when it comes to wines. They work well with fruit and a good view also.

It sounds like a perfect wine is just the right taste for you right now- well deserved after a curveball.  Please let Bruce know that we await his return, and all of the details of this latest challenge- and get some sleep! :)

Linda, there's a B&B in Della Provincia Di Pavia of Italy where you can enjoy the Piont Grigio and the view with Bruce when he's able.  It's called La Vecchia Cantina B&B.

I'm hoping the two of you will be able to visit together when Bruce is up and about.

God bless,
Mike in Tucson

Hi Linda,

I gave the sauce up 3 yrs ago.  The first 6 months was agony.  Most of my friends drink but I have one friend who got me into wine sampling.  I smell the wine.  Yes he got me onto smelling wines.  He wants to train me to smell the wine and then name that bottle.  I am not sure if this is possible.  I only got as far as distinguishing whether it is a Red Bottle or a White bottle.

Linda - Happy to read the Calvary arrived!  I know it's a welcome break and great to visit too.

As for the wine...  I've only begun to couple vino with fruit and cheeses, but have found Granny Smiths, Tillamook White Cheddar and Pinot Grigio (Bella Sera is my favorite so far)... but for Cajun food... "your" own Maui Blanc is the best!

I'll have to look for your suggestion... but we're "off base" so it may be a bit more difficult...Thanks

LInda - It was great to see this post with Bruce's smiling face.  I love a good glass of wine - or adult beverage as Bruce calls it.  Don't dring much Pinot Grigio, I'll have to give it a try.

It's great that your daughter is in town to give both of you some much needed relief.  Enjoy you sleep and time off.  Tell Bruce we're thinking of him!

Good morning Linda,
I am so happy to hear that you have some relief--I can only imagine how tiring and stressful this time must have been for you.  Just remember we're all still remembering all of you in our prayers and thoughts.

I'm making a note of the wine.  I usually prefer a red but will give it a try.

Happy to hear Bruce is on the mend.  I am not a wine drinker so I will have to take your word on that one.  Look forward to seeing Bruce when he is up and about.

Linda, good to hear that Jeanne is there and you will be able to relax a little while she spends time w/her Dad.  Give Bruce a big hug from me today/tomorrow -- hmmm it's 2:30 AM on Sun. morn. here -- not sure what time it is there...and too sleepy to figure it out.

The Hot Dog Club continues to patiently wait for Bruce to heal enough to celebrate with the online Hot Dog Party!!!  : )

Linda - Great to hear that Bruce is doing well.  I will definitely try the wine.  I lived in Italy for 2 1/2 years while in the AF.  The Italians do know  how to make wine.  I helped pick the grapes and then drank my share of the "Vino Locale."  Take care.  Mickey Hayward - on the eastern shore or Maryland.
