THE TEN COMMANDMENTS DAY TWO

By
Real Estate Agent with Weichert Referral Associates

I would like to ask everyone to please read and reflect on this comandment from start to finish it may just cause some of you to rethink certain things.

EXODUS 20:4,5,6

Thou shall not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above,or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; and showing mercy unto thousands of them that love me and kep my commandments.

So the Lord promises hismercy to those who love him and keep his commandments. What greter gift could any man desire? But he wants us to trust in him, He doesnt want us bending our knee and bowing down to any other images. He does not want us praying to anyone other than himself. He is pretty clear that doing any of these things will bring punishment.

I know this is a tough battle sometimes, I currently have a client who's house is under contract, who is convinced that it is because of the Saint Joseph buried in the front yard. I tried to talk her out of it she is a friend and as much as i wanted to sell her home I am more concerned about her salvation. I witness to her regularly but so far to no avail.

I ask all of you as Christian Realtors to please discourage this practice of idolatry. We have but one God deserving of our worship and prayers. In God's own words he will hold responsible your children to the third and fourth generations. Is that the legacy we hope to leave to our children?

      GOD BLESS YOU

I see #2 as including anything that takes your focus away from God.

It seems some focus more on their expensive toys, favorite sports, actors, careers, making lots of money, etc. than God.

Looking forward to # 3!

Hugh:  Keep writing because somewhere, someone who really needs to hear this message is going to read it and just imagine how that will change that person.  I had never heard of burying Saint Joseph in the yard until I read some things on Active Rain.  It was a first for me to even hear about this.

ORLANDO- I agree God  is not against us having material things he just wants us to keep the right perspective

DAN- Very true the trouble is sometimes what we think we need and what the Lord knows we need do not always match up. But guess who's opinion always prevails

DONNA- I only heard about the Saint Joseph thing a few months ago but its hard to convince people that the traditions they grew up with are idolatry. Some of the great reformers were burned at the stake for preaching such things I feel 2 inches smallwhen I look the other way just to make a commission.

Hugh

I guess I will be the first, I guess you haven't gotten to the part where it says honor thy Mother and thy father and you honor me.

St.Joseph is the patron saint of Fathers and workers. I applaud you for your efforts that you are trying to follow in God's foot steps but bashing people for their religious belief's is not the way.

Have a Blessed day!

Gary - You're right that was along the lines of an argument I thought i would encounter. In my youth i went to a grammar school and a church named after St Joseph. Back then i just didn,t agree with alot of things, now I know why.  I believe the Bible is the inerrant living word of God period end of story if its not scripturaly correct it,s wrong. Too many denominations and other religions pick and choose which parts of the bible to quote. I do not believe anyone but God has the right to judge or condemn so I do not mean to "bash" anyone but in my heart I believe that statues and saints are idolatry. I believe that all believers are Gods saints but I,m not praying to any of them. Prayer is reserved for God.

Diane, Thank you you are a barometer for me I always take a deep breadth before i read your commentsI hope one day to reach your level of commitment to the Lord.

Hugh......

I did not see your post because of the weekend, plus I was in the middle of moving..... We had a GREAT mens meeting on idolitry on Sunday...WOW!!

Your post brings home the points made in the meeting -- anything we give our attention to as above HIM is an idol......

ANYTHING....

BTW the definition of an Idol:

1.an image or other material object representing a deity to which religious worship is addressed.
2.Bible.
a.an image of a deity other than God.
b.the deity itself.
3.any person or thing regarded with blind admiration, adoration, or devotion: Madame Curie had been her childhood idol.
4.a mere image or semblance of something, visible but without substance, as a phantom.
5.a figment of the mind; fantasy.
6.a false conception or notion; fallacy.

Please note the last couple of definitions...... fantasy or fallacy....hehehehe (It kinda puts it all into perspective, hmm?)

=-)
