17 Comments on Giving Up Our Insanity Badge
Gary-Now the eagle scouts are the best ones because they climb the highest mountains, cross the deepest oceans and give 100% to those they love. They wear their badges with humbleness and a smile
Gary, This is a badge taht I try to take away from my agent s all the time. We need to tread away from our comfort level
Elisa: Got to love those Eagle scouts with the merit badges, A rare breed I agree and certainly don't lay claim to insanity badges.
William: Sometimes I agree there is that need for intervention, cause people just won't jump off that crazy merry go round on their own sometimes.
Gary,
I really liked this blog. It's amazing how long we keep doing the insane, the ineffective and even the harmful at times... g
Fear to try something new is one reason many do not try a new way. The comfort of doing the same thing over and over with the same results is insane...but if one does not step out into the unknown to try something new (admitting is the first step :) then they'll just keep doing the same insane things over and over again....
Just as the clock ticks away each day, days come and go, times change and we need to change with the times. Wouldn't it be sad if the world just stood still.
Gary, Interesting post. I never really thought about it like that. I suppose it can be a bit of insanity that paralyzes people into the fear of doing nothing, or the same thing over and over again, that isn't working.
Well, Gary, I was going to say that I like my insanity badge, but then Rocky did have a good point to reinforce yours.
I liked your picture. One of my best friends here in Colorado has made a fashion statement of always wearing a suit when we go on hikes or snow skiing. It was amazing how much attention he got from wearing that suit at the slopes. Sometimes it is fun to go against the grain.....
p.s. I hope your training for your upcoming half marathon is going well. You have just over 10 days to go.
Fear keeps people from reaching out and making necessary changes but it can be overcome! Great post Gary!
Rocky: Denial is like insanity on insanity. That's pretty bad doing that.
Gordon: I am amazed how many loops on ineffective people will do without changing a thing.
Sally: You have nailed it correctly with many people not moving out of their comfort zones to get to a change that they so desperately need.
Ceil: We need to not just let the world and the seasons change around us but be part of the change ourselves.
Sandy: Something that is not working and keeping on keeping on doing that makes no sense at some point. Easy to point the finger at others when we all have glimpses of that probably ourselves.
Sondra: Someone really wears a suit on hikes? Has he been skipping his psychiatrist appointments? I want pictures. Marathon man is almost ready.
Wanda: Fear is a huge obstacle for moving a new direction, absolutely true, but we can get through the fear.
hmm, something to think about!
Hi Steven: Definitely ponderable material LOL.
Gary, I think someone defined insanity as doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. Or something like that. I am stubborn but, if it doesn't work after the first 43 times, I give up.
Gary-God has a great way of giving us wake up calls in life and one of them was to STOP the insanity in my life and move on to more fun, satisfying and worthwhile adventures, avenues and appreciate the beauty in the world and to accept & love myself for the beautiful special person I am and embrace my uniqueness and focus on being happy, healthy and filled with God's peace and joy. So I have given up my insanity badge and I have NEVER been happier. I wish you the same in your life. Happy St Patricks Day. May it be richly blessed with no insanity.
Gary:
I'm INSANELY jealous of anyone who can conquor the issues you are describing.
Tom
Gary if people keep doing the same thing for soooo long and it hasn't worked yet, then I don't know when they will get it that what they are doing is not working. Some people need a deliverance from Insanity.
