After discussions at a recent Gulf Shores city council meeting, the "welcoming signs" may also include welcome signs! As Councilman Steve Jones said in BaldwinCountyNow.com on March 3, 2011, ". . . there was mounting interest to improve the welcoming points into the city . . . I think we need to find a way to do some things to make the entrances to our city more special, and there have been some recommendations from our beautification board that I would like to see us take more seriously."
Judy Smith, Chairperson of the Beautification Board, commented that, "Our recommendations included signage coming into the city letting people know that they are in Gulf Shores. Something really nice and appealing to the eye."
