Johnny going into Boy Scouts

Boy Scouts in Medford, New Jersey - Burlington, New Jersey

As some of you know, I have 6 nieces and nephews and I love them all.  Johnny, oldest of the boys, is leaving Cub Scouts and will be going into Boy Scouts.  Good for him.... so proud of him. Some look at the Scouts as geeky or nerdy.. or just not fun. I know growing up, I did Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, but stopped... long story, but I was grounded one year and never picked it up after that. But Boy Scouts can teach a young boy so many things, while still having fun.

In any case, I am PROUD of you Johnny... because it also takes dedication and follow through... not quiting when things get tough. Life is full of challenges... live, learn, love and have fun along the way....

Just one of the many passages he will make in his life.  Scouts teach important life lessons - hope he enjoys the learning.

Jeff, congratulations to you and to Johnny!  (I'm ashamed to say that I flunked out of the cub scouts - I had a problem tying knots!)

MEL & GRETCHEN.. . it certainly does and just from growing up, even when I was younger, kids looked down at you when they found out you were in Cub Scouts or Boy Scouts... but no matter what, I am glad that he is taking an interest in this and sticking to it... because as you stated, Boy Scouts is such a great foundation and teaches so many important life lessons. thanks

BILL... thanks... glad to hear. And wow, 3 of your nephews are Eagles... you must be proud... such a high accomplishment within the scouts.

GABE... lol... no worries... I bet you can tie knots now... ;o)  Hey, thanks for stopping by.

All my boys were cubs and two went on to be Scouts, one ended up in the Marines who had been a scout. Never gets lost in the woods but on roads another matter. I ended up being cubmaster, best time of my life, everything else was pretty bad at the time, but I loved seeing those kids develop and master situations, see them attend camp on their own, learn to swim and get their badges, and be as proud as punch when their parents turned up. Your nephew looks as if he will do just fine as he moves along, that smile is a winner.

I was a girl scout and loved it; although I believe the cub/boy scouts did more than the girls scouts..at least they did in my area.  But both are good for development!

Congrats on the Arrow Of Light!

My son was in Cub Scouts, and crossed over to Boy Scout a couple of years ago.

Scouting can really create a great environment for boys.  As with any activity, it is good for the parents to also be involved.  I spend a lot of time with my son and his scout troop.  We get quality time together.
