Meet Me for Coffee in Palm Springs at Koffi

Very few establishments can reach landmark status in less than ten years and when one does acquire such a label you know it's an extra special place. The original Koffi opened in Palm Springs in 2002 at The Corridor in downtown. Since its opening it has become a popular, and yes fashionable, meeting place for a crowd mix of both tourists and locals alike becoming THE place for coffee in Palm Springs. With no national corporate ties, Koffi is a Palm Springs keepsake and has become an integral part of the Palm Springs topography.

Koffi started as an 800 square foot local's hangout in August of 2005. It is still owned by John Abner and John Strohm, two full-time Palm Springs residents who share a passion for serving exceptional coffee in an upscale environment that is very Palm Springs. In the spring of 2005, they doubled the size of the cafe to provide an even more comfortable environment for Palm Springs residents and tourists to enjoy. Today, Koffi's primary focus is on increasing customer satisfaction while enhancing the development of their employees. A few years ago, South Palm Springs Koffi opened their doors to the same warm community welcome.

The two Koffi locations though are distinctly different. The original location is housed in a former hotel that has been converted to a retail environment. Small shops and specialty stores surround a landscaped courtyard with tables, benches and incredible mountain views. It has an atmosphere of old Palm Springs and the casual setting invites relaxation. Because of the "clicks" created by the separate gathering areas, this location has been dubbed "Mean Girl Koffi" by some locals.

Koffi's second location is in a newer contemporary building in South Palm Springs. It has a high tech feel and their outdoor area is very minimalist with lots of steel, glass and concrete. This stark environment might be what led locals to refer to this location as "Prison Yard Koffi." Any local will tell you though that these labels are meant in jest and are good natured. A glimpse of the line at the counter at any given time tells the passerby that either location is community favorite.

Palm Springs Koffi is located at 515 N. Palm Canyon Drive while South Palm Springs Koffi resides at 1700 S. Camino Real. Both locations are open daily from 5:30am to 7:00pm.
