Paying It Forward:  Another Pint the Day AFTER St. Patty's Day!

You may want to go have another pint, or maybe you had a few too many yesterday and the LAST thing you want is another drop of the stuff!

But my pint, it's a little different than what you had yesterday.  It's something we've all got to have to keep going, something we're all equally in need of to survive:  blood!

Hoxworth Blood Center

Today was time for another visit to our local Hoxworth blood center, my usual place on Kenwood Road.  An hour of time door to door and Jim was there again too!  Unfortunately today was a bit more pressed for time, so didn't get to "stick" around and have a long conversation today, perhaps in 8 weeks when it's time to give again!

Again, these folks are pros!  Another painless needle entry, first try plugged right in, and done in about 10 minutes of actual time in the comfortable recliner!

So if you can spare a pint, make sure to contact Hoxworth or your preferred local facility to donate the gift of life.  There are always people in need, and that is NOT going to change, so please consider helping out in any way you can!

"I do not share my stories of paying it forward for recognition.  I share them so that others might be inspired to do what they can, when they can, where they can.  No more, no less."  Tish Lloyd, North Carolina REALTOR®

Take care

Donating blood is a great thing.  My brother needed blood for many years before his death.   We would have lost him long before without the help of other people.  Great post and a great way of paying forward.

This is such an amazing Pay it Forward -- I haven't done this, and I have that weird rare blood type, so I really should go.  Just put it on my bucket list for this coming week; thanks!

Anyone who has been faced with surgery or who is an accident knows the importance of blood centers and banks.  Our nation's blood supply is it always in a crisis mode.  Donating blood is giving the gift of life…

CA, We've probably all had relatives that have needed blood at some point, and they're strangers to someone else.  Glad there were MANY people in your area who give to get Wayne through his tough times.

Tish, It's a good thing to do, although I'll admit I MAY feel a little tired for a couple of days....oh wait, I USUALLY feel tired anyway, maybe it's all the working and not donating blood! :)

Paul, I've been fortunate and have never needed blood yet, but always nice to know my pints are out there doing some good for people.  They had a decent crowd at the blood center yesterday, about 4 people in giving at the same time.

Roger, It's a nice thing to be able to do regularly and I'm trying to get back in sync with the blood drives they hold at my day job.  I'm still about 2 weeks out of sequence.

Michael, Centrifuges can take care of that! :)

Jackie, I'm A-, so not the most common type out there (1 in 16 in the U.S.), so even more critical for me to drop off that pint :)

Cindy, Just couldn't pass up the link on that one :)

David, High school senior year in Louisiana was my first donation.  Kept going through my Navy years and or course Johnson & Johnson is a big fan of community service and blood donation in particular.

Scott, It's one of the easier things I can do to make such a huge personal impact on someone else.

What is this "Bliz" stuff that I've missed?

Giving blood is something I should have started doing (consisently) long ago.  I have only done it once.  It was in the 80's.  And now Sheen is again famous for my Tiger's Red:)

Jason, Charita gave us the nickname last year, a combo of our two names into one, we've kept it in use :)

So now we know who to blame for Charlie's implosion :)
