 Biloxi Blues Poster

Well folks, It have been to see a play the The Lake Worth Playhouse. It was Biloxi Blues and it was a great show. The actors were excellent, especially the lead actor, Stoan Maslev, as Eugene M Jerome.

I had seen the movie many years ago and loved it too. This local community theater always does a wonderful job. Their sets are inovative and elaborate and the theater itself is a beautiful well kept piece of local history.

The Lake Worth Playhouse occupies the former Oakley Theatre, the oldest building on the register of the Art Deco Society of Palm Beach County. It started as a movie theater and vaudeville house and first opened its doors on November 3, 1924.

Lots have time have passed by its doors and it still remains a icon of this town. A hurricane in 1928 virtually destroyed the building but was redone just in time for the Great Depression. Tough times followed off and on with the place finally being shut down.

In the early 50's the Lake Worth playhouse was incorporated and they bought the building in the 70's. They renovated it to what it is today.

These days they have a great variety of plays and musicals every season. Whenever you are in this part of Florida, check out this gem!!!
