Make Your Own Memories in this Red Feather Lakes Cabin at 51 Apache Trail, Red Feather Lakes, CO.

By
Real Estate Agent with United Country Ponderosa Realty, Red Feather Lakes, Colorado

Red Feather Lakes cabins create lasting and wonderful memories.

A few months ago I had the pleasure of helping a Red Feather Cabin find its way back into the family that originally built it.

What I like so much about this sale was that the buyer's lovely wife spent many good times up at this cabin when she was a child.

She knew and loved the people that built it.

This well built, beautiful cabin held many cherished memories and it was important to her to bring it back into the family.

It's said that going to Red Feather Lakes is like taking a step back in time and for this lucky buyer, it really was. The old wood cook stove was still there as well as the turquoise 1950's frig (which for some reason reminded me of a Cadillac.)

Often, family cabins get sold but the memories leave a lasting impression on the heart. Recollections of the fun and good times spent in them rarely fade away.

Several years ago, we drove around the area with our son-in-law looking for THE cabin that held his own fond childhood memories, of fishing and playing in the woods.

.

There are a lot of memories in these old cabins - Here is an opportunity to begin making memories of your own

This historic cabin, located at 51 Apache Trail is very close to Apache Lake.  Fishing Membership is available and provides excellent fishing in all 8 private lakes in the Village. This sturdy cabin was built in 1928 and needs some cosmetic updating for your weekend get-a-way.

You can make it your own for only $79,900

716 Square feet, 2 bedrooms, no indoor bathroom (privy) You could drill a well, too.

Hi Gordon, I agree.  Sometimes it's the simple things that bring the most joy into our lives.

Hi Craig, I would love to hear those walls talk about what Red Feather was like in 1928!  That would be interesting.

Hi Bruce, you want indoor plumbing? It depends, on the size, location and condition but I would say on average that might cost you $125K- $140K for a cabin in the Village.  This is like camping with a roof :-)

Thanks Dorie, That Red Cross button reminds me daily to give thanks for all that I have and to give to those who have lost so much.

Hi Sharon, I hope you have a great Sunday, too.  Facilitating "the return of that cabin" to it's original family made that one of the best closings I've ever had - I was so happy for them!

Hi Juli, you're right - a whole new generation and a bunch of new memories will be created in that cabin.  Which, by the way did have water and indoor plumbing that had been added by the interim (non family) owners :-)

Hi Vickie, you got it. All lot of these cabins aren't full time homes they are just for fun, relaxing, recreating and spending time together--that's what ties those heartstrings so tight around them.

Thank you Vegas Bob -the sentiment that is felt for these cabins is truly a matter of the heart.

Hi Ann, HAHA!  a buyer can add one or they could simply think of it as camping with a roof...I would like a bathroom too if it was a full time home. :-)

Hi Melissa, I'm laughing as I type this because it's hard to imagine life before indoor plumbing and electricity isn't it?  This little cabin at least has electricity :-) I imagine the new buyer will want to add a water source and perhaps indoor facilities at some point in time.

Not a bad price for a cabin in the mountains.  This would be a great place to get away from all the hustle and bustle.  I also like to drive by home where I have lived and think of the good memories.

I can see the correlation between an older Cadillac and a refrigerator, absolutely. But I don't see myself tiptoeing through the snow to an outhouse. This is an adorable cabin, though.

Thanks Joan, these little rustic cabins usually sell quickly. Much better than camping for some and not a huge investment.

Hi Shirley, I like to do that too! A lot of memories are stored in those homes where we grew up, also.  You're right, this isn't a bad price at all, thanks Shirley!

Thanks Kristi,  I think it will be on a lot of showing lists!

Thanks Ann, that turquoise fridge is a classic - it was pretty cool, I have to admit!

Ah come on Elizabeth, where's that old Colorado pioneer spirit! LOL Thank you for the laugh today.

Joetta, I hope you will!  Thanks for stopping by, when you have your cabin, we will sit outside with some cold beverages and say..."AH.........."

Sandy, it was so fun to know that that particular cabin was "going home"- it made that closing especially sweet!  Thank you Sandy.
