Today's Iron Chefs are trying to get more for their buck so they, simply knock down a wall seems to be enough. By knocking down a few walls costs a lot less than adding square footage.
Kitchen of the Future
Having things like French doored is simple but to have refrigerators with customizable freezers, retractable vents, and specality stove tops you can touch while on? The masters bathrooms are going with vessel sinks, integrated sink tops, TV mirrors, specialty showers stalls/baths, to even heated floors and towel holders.
