Vallejo, California
It is now a done deal VALLEJO is a three-college town!
Solano Community College celebrated the grand opening celebration of the Vallejo College Campus on September 15, 2007. The new $22.3 million beautiful 40,000 sq. ft. facility Campus is located at 545 Columbus Parkway in Vallejo. In 2002 Vallejo voters passed Measure 'G' to partially fund the land, the campus and to allow for future development.
The Governing Board named the administration building at the new Vallejo Center in memory of Governing Board Trustee, Bill Thurston. Not only was he was instrumental in the passage of Measure 'G'. he had a deep passion for education. As a result of his efforts and all those that shared his vision Vallejo, Benicia and surrounding community will now have an accessible community college.
The Ribbon Cutting and the Dedication of the Bill Thurston Building was a free public event. The celebration was well represented by Mr. Bill Thurston's family, friends and colleagues. The event was also well attended by the general public, local, county and state officials.
What a beautiful campus. The classrooms and labs were so inviting. I just had to try the high-back chairs. Ahhh... the cushions were so comfy. Not like any school furniture from grade school to college I was ever accustomed to. This will be a very, very busy campus. Classes begin October 15, 2007. There's a seat for you.
The new Vallejo College Campus campus along with the California Maritime Academy and TOURO UNIVERSITY CALIFORNIA proudly make us a three-college town. I applaude all that participated in this great dream come true.
