winning tickets to saturday night live is like winning the power ball. Your chances are about the same.

People have tried for 20 years to get tickets and never have won.  I tried for the first time in 2010 and won!

So here is what you need to know.

In August for a short period of time you have to enter a lottery drawing through NBC's website.I entered at 12:01AM august 1st.
The lottery is only open for a few days. (Says 30 but it wasn't ..... More like 10 days)

I am a fairly lucky person, but I don't believe there is any ryhme or reason to winning.  You can only enter once per household.

Months passed I didn't think we had won and had not thought anymore about it until We found out on January 3rd 2011 that we had been chosen.
Our show was for January 29th.  The host was Jessie Eisenberg and musical guest nicki minage.

It is pretty tough to book a trip to NYC within 3 weeks but January was the worst time to visit, cold cold and tons of record snow.

Because many people can't make the show they are given,  You can go get in a stand by line and get stand by tickets..... Good Luck there.

The rules state that:

Do Not bring any bags or anything extra. Security was tighter at Rockefeller center than Airport. Very professional but strict.

Go Early....Arriving at Rockefeller Center you meet in the lobby.  Only the person who's name was selected gets in line with picture ID to get tickets and wrist band.
2 tickets are given to the winner.

Your name must match the ID and what you submitted on the website.

Going into the studio is one of the coolest things you can do. Most all of the show is live, and there aren't any bad seats. Some Seats have Limited View.
Get in line early and you have a better chance of getting closer seats.

I was in line with 2 couples that had tried for 10 and 17 years to win tickets.  Crazy to think I won tickets the first time I entered.

Entering the studio, looks just like it does on tv. The Band is playing live and a cast member comes out to go over a few "house rules"

There isn't a better NYC experience than seeing SNL live, it is so impressive and exciting.

Congrats. Good for you. I don't know why I never tried to go in the years I lived right across the river from NYC. Never thought about it. I probably could have got tickets. I had friends in high places.

Shucks.
