Fact: Having pet odors in your home can keep your home from selling. Little known fact: Getting rid of pet odors in your home is easy. We have an indoor beagle named Snoopy and although we bathe him and launder his bedding often, we keep a jar of Fresh Wave crystal gel placed on shelving near his bed. Pet odor problem avoided. But Fresh Wave isn't just for pet odors - it works on cooking odors or any other odors and keeps rooms fresh.
"Fresh Wave natural odor eliminators use the power of nature and molecular science to get rid of organic and inorganic odors. Rather than masking unwanted odors, our products go to the source to destroy the odor. More importantly, Fresh Wave products use no toxins, so they are safe to use around people and pets."
Go to www.fresh-wave.com to see their products. Fresh Wave can be purchased at Bed Bath & Beyond, The Container Store, Central Market in San Antonio, and probably a few other stores.
There are websites that will advise masking odors by placing scented candles or bowls of potpourri around; applying sealant over brick or cement; painting, replacing, or sealing walls; shampooing or tearing out and replacing carpet and padding and scrubbing the subfloor; steam cleaning upholstered furniture; scrubbing everything with a bleach and water solution, etc. What???
You may try to mask odors but that will not eliminate the odors. The other steps are probably unnecessary unless your home is a health department situation.

Shirley, I've used fresh wave and really liked it - better than febreeze in my opinion. Trying to mask odors can definitely create a bigger problem. Good time of year for a thorough cleaning and airing out of the house too, selling or not :)
Hi Shirley, I have not heard of this product, I think I will put this on my shopping list. Thanks!
Thanks Shirley for the info., I'll pass on to Ceil. We don't have an inside dog, but will use for other ideas that you shared.

do you think you can ship me a sample?
Just kidding. I sent you an email by the way.
Hi Shirley... when I show a home that has an oder masker, I am always wondering exactly what is the oder masking. Pet odor? Mold odor? The possibilities are seemingly endless.
I'm going to stop by Bed Bath & Beyond today and see if I can find this stuff. I have 3 cats and need all the help I can get.
Shirley, Fresh Wave sounds promising, I'll check it out the next time I'm at BB&B.
Pet odors can be one of the most difficult of marketing problems in selling a home. It is important to get a handle on them. You provided some great tips, Shirley!
Thanks for the pet odor tips Shirley. It's sometimes difficult to convince pet owners about eliminating those odors when you put their homes on the market.
Great post! Sounds like a good product to help with pet odors! Excellent tips!
Thanks for sharing,
Adam
I'm heading to Bed, Bath and Beyond tomorrow as I have a few clients that this would be perfect for and well worth my money to buy it for them.
