Wilsonville, a gateway to Oregon's wine country, located about 19 miles to the South of Portland, is sitting in a lush horticultural growing area of Oregon. The area is known for specialty nurseries that send plants all over the world from trees and shrubs to bulbs and seeds. We are famous for the Dahlia and Iris gardens,
peonies, day lillies, hostas plus so much more. Hazelnut Orchards paint the hills around Wilsonville, and this industry is one of Oregon's largest. The Willamette Valley is also known for fresh fruits and vegetables that can be purchased at roadside stands and for the vineyards that produce exquisite Merlots and Pinots. There are many wineries that have tastings and wine tours throughout the growing and producing season, a great way to find some favorite wines. The area around Wilsonville, shows off the many horse and country properties and is home to one of the largest Horse shows and wine festival at the The Country Classic at Hunter Creek Farm in Wilsonville, held in July.
The City of Wilsonville is also the location of major high technology companies such as Mentor Graphics, Xerox, Flir and Rockwell Collins. The West Linn-Wilsonville School District is one of the highest ranked in the state and many people move to this area with this in mind. Small businesses provide needed services for the residents of Wilsonville and the town has an air of a friendly and neighborly place to live.
The Willamette River flows through the town and acres of public parks and gardens are within the city, with water features that attract activities for all ages. The Wilsonville Town Center Park in the center of the city, includes an interactive water feature plus is home to the Oregon Korean War Veteran's Memorial and the city's Chamber of Commerce.
Champoeg State Park is located just south of Wilsonville, has ten miles of hiking and biking trails. A paved bike trail wonders through old growth hardwood forests, and a hiking trail only, follows the Willamette Rivers' scenic banks. Recreational areas of the Cascades and the Oregon Coast are only an hour away for winter and summer fun.
Wilsonville is a nice place to live and raise families, good schools, great neighborhoods, close to summer and winter activities such as snow skiing, water skiing, golfing and not far from the larger city of Portland where cultural activities such as live theatre, museums, music and great restaurants is only 20 minutes away.
