No, not shopping more than normal! Modern design is a huge part of my life, I am a fan of new and mid-century design, and finally decided to write about in my blog what I'm most fascinated with. I'll also be featuring modern and mid century homes, as well as other compliments of the modern lifestyle.  

Hi Rich! Answering that question could fill the pages of many blogs!!! Other than your typical Design Within Reach that is national store with excellent selection of tried and true favorites (always a good place to get started or familiar with modern essentials, and by "national" I don't mean cheap copies or substitutions of the originals, but real, up to par and accurate pieces as when they were just issued. Design Within Reach sells a lot of superb Herman Miller pieces, which owns the patents to many mid century design phenoms) one of my favorites includes Velocity Design, which is a downtown Seattle based store, with also an excellent online presence. There are several excellent mid-century stores in Ballard, and a great hole-in-the-wall for nifty finds at "steal" prices is Space Oddity, where pieces can be hit or miss, sometimes grand sometimes humble, but the proprietor (Todd, if I remember correctly) is a true pleasure to deal with.

Kathy, these chairs are certainly.... "minimalistic". They are probably best for a temporary sit, as opposed to an extended lounge!
