Actually, they're all my favorites :)

African Violets are so beautiful and come in over 17,000 varieties these days. The Fantasy African Violet Club meets on the 2nd Saturday of each month at 1pm at the Life Parteners Center behind Oak Hill Hospital in Spring Hill, Florida.  Thad Scaggs is the president.
Please feel free to join us if you have a love of African Violets and would like to learn more about how to grow them.  You can call me for more info on the club. Also, if you would like to see all of the varieties, check out the African Violet Society of America’s website at www.AVSA.org.

Of course, I took home several violets to re-start my collection.

Lynn - Thank you. I used to have about 500 violets but we moved (twice) and moving isn't kind to violets so I lost most of them.  Now I only have 10-12 but I've just gotten interested again and who knows.....

Toni, you are right, they would all be my favorites, too.  And, it's nice to have flower photos on a day when we are supposed to get 5 to 8 inches of SNOW.

Toni,

Thanks for the delightful array of violet species.  As I started to look at your photos, I was thinking, I like this one, and then this one, and then I like them all.  They are all special in their own inimitable ways.  Thanks for sharing these photos with us. Have a great Wednesday.  A

Toni--Amazing photos!!!!!!  Love 'Frozen in Time' the white ones in last shot.  I can't imagine have 500 plants in my house.  Were you in real estate at that time?  Thanks for sharing.

I love flowers, but we have too many trees which do not allow enough sun for most flowers.  Over the years I have had fun with silk and dried arrangements.  In fact I may post some later.

Alexandra - That's the problem - you can't resist them and there are so many gorgeous ones. It's like being in a candy shop. I'll post pics of the 5 I bought later in the week.

Mary - yes, I was in real estate but a lot of them were baby plants (about 200) so they didn't take up much room. I had them on plant stands with lights. I'll have to do a post about my light bill and other interesting happenings.

Baby plants or big plants 200 is a lot of plants and grow lights, too.  When I first moved here almost 12 years ago, I tried grow lights on my front porch because the trees block out most of the natural light. One summer of that and I gave up and decided silk flowers were going to be a better option, but I still LOVE real flowers.  Thanks for sharing yours with me and the rest of ActiveRain.  My niece lives in Philly and shared pictures of Philadelphia's flower show on Facebook.  I may have to visit her next year & attend the show with her.

Post about your light bill will be interesting, but include lots of pictures of the flowers, too.

I’ve always loved African violets because they are always blooming and take up so little space to bring so much beauty inside. Unfortunately, I have a brown thumb, and African violets are one of maybe three or four plants that my other half just doesn’t seem to be able to grow.

Jim - your other half needs to learn that AV's don't like to sit in water (maybe). You have to water them and then empty the saucer of the excess water). They don't like their feet to stay wet.
