It Comes Around Again, This Saturday!

This Saturday March 26th, 2011 at 8:30 p.m. is earth hour.  They are asking us around the world, to turn off the lights and stop using electrical equipment for one hour.

This year will be a little different with a variety of events happening in support of earth hour.
Pocoyo will have many fun downloads and actiivities, Facebook will be turning off virtual light switches and all our thoughts this year will be with the people of Japan.

We all have the power, to go beyond the hour! What will you do to support Earth Hour 2011?

I had not read anywhere that Earth Hour ws this weekend so I am glad you mentioned it here. This year I am just going to enjoy this gift of an hour of silence. A gift of time to refresh the mind and the spirit. :0)

The point of Earth Hour is to make people aware of the need to save power. Saving power is good for the environment and your budget. Turning off the lights for one hour won't accomplish much. Will it motivate people to buy energy efficient appliances, turn their heat down and their air conditioning up? Turn off all the lights at night and unplug your tv's, computers and other electronic equipment. Yes, unplug them, anything that has a standby light is burning electricity 24/7. These are the things that people need to do daily. Instead of observing one hour a year, I have changed my power use habits - that's what really counts.

Ah, earth day. A day when mother earth can stop doing what she does, kick up her heels, and let us carry the burden...

That sounds like a good plan Martha!

Donna, you have valid points. We have to stop somewhere and hopefully this raises awareness.

Just don't forget by Saturday Ralph LOL! ;)

Josh, can you imagine the difference we could make if we all just did it for an hour a day!

Good way of looking at it Michael!

Oh that is a real busy time Anita! that would be a hard hour to sit quiet! LOL!

Glad to hear it Rich!

We know, went fast right Michelle?

It's good that people are starting to take this more seriously. I'm sure mother earth appreciates it, even if it's only for one hour.

We know the lights out no one is home feeling Fred and it happens every day before java time!

Yes, Malcolm, one hour world wide, it has to have an impact. Now if only we could do it every day!
