Don Raney and Jaymes Richardson designed this kitchen in their style described as "fashion forward." One of my favorite things about the design is how it's this great mix of modern and eclectic. It's not traditional for the most part, but really has a fun feel. I like how they went with the white counter tops and cabinets. It keeps the room from having a chaotic, crowded feel that could easily happen when you put in such bold colors like the orange. The room exudes a feeling of "clean," from the clean lines to the use of color. Another interesting thing about the colors used is that they effectively create emotions/feelings of hunger. I think that is an important thing to have in a kitchen. Who wants to have their feelings of hunger downgraded as they cook a meal (whether consciously or unconsciously)? Not me! Functionally it looks really well designed as well. There is plenty of counter space, and you can easily maneuver between cooking stations during meal prep time. Also, it would be easy to entertain as you cook with the bar seating. I really like the "edgy-ness" of this design. I think it's okay to go out on a limb a little and try new things in historically traditional rooms. Thanks Don & Jaymes for your unique design!
