If you are a Canadian citizen and plan on visiting or moving to another country, here is a program that you should know about. (And if you're a US citizen, for information on a similar US program click here).
The Canadian government provides a free program called "Registration of Canadians Abroad" (ROCA).
After you sign up, you will automatically receive updates along with current information for any foreign country. You only need to sign up once and then add or delete any country that you may visit or move to.
The Canadian consular service provides specific information for countries along with alerts and warnings. The goal is to make travel safer by keeping travelers and expatriates better informed.
Sign-up is easy. You create an account online and just follow the instructions. If you registered prior to Dec. 14, 2008 the system has changed and you will need to re-register.
With your account, you can register with specific US embassies or consulates as you travel or live in various countries.
This contact with Canadian Consulates gives you easy access to information here and abroad as well as specific services that you may need in other countries. To enroll click here.
