Now before I start with my humbled opinion, I must disclose that what I’m about to say is of my sole opinion and not that of the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors. In today’s edition of Inman News it is reported the National Association of Realtors is contemplating a dues increase of $40 in 2012 and 2013 with the intent of raising $80 million for political advocacy.
I donate what I can to RPAC because I have seen first hand the benefits it brings to real estate legislation on the national, state and local levels. I am also involved with my local political party and with all of that you would think I would be in support of this dues increase but I’m adamantly against it.
I believe every member of the organization should vote in every election, donate to RPAC and I mean donate. Voting is a right in this country and nobody can be forced to vote nor should they be forced to donate on something they don’t believe in. I believe in it but not every member believes in it .

Joe: I can't get that worked up over $40. I think I spent more than that for a bottle of beer once in Tokyo.

Joe,
I agree with Karen, if it is a donation then it is not mandatory. I will admit that if my fees increase, my donations will decrease.

Joe, I'm starting to think that there is just too much money in politics. I have always donated to RPAC but I don't want them deciding how much I'm going to donate or demand that other donate when they don't want to.
