A Short Sale in the East Sacramento Neighborhood of Elmhurst

Some days I wonder if I need my head examined for taking on the responsibility of raising a ragdoll kitten. Jackson is a little white fink, according to my husband and, according to me, he is a terror. Our floors are littered with cat toys but he always manages to find some other item to shred and knock about. Like our shoes. Or mail. jackson ragdoll kitten

2024 58th Street, sacramento, ca 95817This morning my husband was awakened by a strange sound in the kitchen. Thinking it was Jackson gnawing on the dishwasher handle or chewing a table leg, he crept out of bed and quietly tiptoed into the kitchen. Ha! It was Pia. My husband had bought new treats -- 100% chicken -- and he had left the bag on the counter, where she is not allowed. She now had the bag on the floor torn into pieces. You don't come between a cat and her favorite treats.

And here is one of my favorite neighborhoods in Sacramento. It's a secret in some circles and shouldn't be. This is an area of East Sacramento that is located in a different ZIP so it's easy to overlook this hideway in a property search. It's the Elmhurst neighborhood, with its tree-canopied streets and vintage character.

This is a 3-bedroom bungalow with mostly hardwood floors. It has a brick fireplace in the living room and a nice floor plan. The dining area is located off the kitchen, and the kitchen has updates: laminate flooring, newer cabinets and counters, a gas range, dishwasher and a refrigerator. If you want personal fixtures, you need to ask for them in the contract.

The master is part of an addition off the back toward the gardens. It has cedar paneling, built-in bookcases and a desk, plus the closet holds a washer and dryer. There is also upgraded lighting.

The floors could use refinishing, and the master a little bit of work but overall the home is ready for occupancy. It has a newer HVAC and a tankless water heater, which should help to reduce energy costs. The fenced back yard has been landscaped and sports a newer stone patio, plus a dog run.

Love the kitty updates too. I had a Rag Doll cat for years. His name was Max and he was rthe most loveable gorgeous cat. He has been gone a few years now and I still miss him. As for the Sacramento home it sounds like a great find and buy for the area.

Jackson sounds adorable.  My black cat (Shadow) has a favorite treat. It's Swiss Chard.  Not even joking.  Yesterday I had a big salad with sliced chicken on top.  I turned away for thirty seconds to do something at the kitchen sink.  My husband walked into the kitchen to find Shadow with his face in my salad bowl gnawing on the chard.

Like the way you don't fluff your listings to create unrealistic expectations.  A buyer will know exactly what to expect when buying this home.

Love the promise that the backyard holds with all the paver and vegetation.  What a beautiful retreat that could be with a little bit of work and imagination!  Someone will definitely see that ... and become a lucky new owner.  Good luck with the sale ...

Oddly enough, I had never heard of that area being called Elmhurst.  The address says it shouldn't be too far from the SMUD building or Tahoe Park.

As for Jackson, he will likely calm his antics in a few months.  Kittens are made up of pure raw energy.  The adorable look on his face, tells me he has a lot of mischief in him!

Hi Gary: Our entire lives are wrapped around those cats. Most people have toys all over the floors from kids. With us, it's cat toys.

Hi Martha: I am so enamoured with ragdolls. I've had Persians and Siamese and most recently Ocicats, but a Ragdoll is a special breed of cat.

Hi Chris Ann: So sneaky, these cats. And so intelligent, too. I once had a cat grab an entire 1/2 of a cantaloupe and run off with it.

Hi Gene: This home in Elmhurst is a treasure and an absolute steal for some astute buyer.

Hi Myrl: Just when I think you know everything about Sacramento, I find out you don't. Ha. Elmhurst even has signs welcoming you to the neighborhood. It runs south of Folsom Blvd. in East Sacramento and north of Oak Park.
