Some days I wonder if I need my head examined for taking on the responsibility of raising a ragdoll kitten. Jackson is a little white fink, according to my husband and, according to me, he is a terror. Our floors are littered with cat toys but he always manages to find some other item to shred and knock about. Like our shoes. Or mail.
This morning my husband was awakened by a strange sound in the kitchen. Thinking it was Jackson gnawing on the dishwasher handle or chewing a table leg, he crept out of bed and quietly tiptoed into the kitchen. Ha! It was Pia. My husband had bought new treats -- 100% chicken -- and he had left the bag on the counter, where she is not allowed. She now had the bag on the floor torn into pieces. You don't come between a cat and her favorite treats.
And here is one of my favorite neighborhoods in Sacramento. It's a secret in some circles and shouldn't be. This is an area of East Sacramento that is located in a different ZIP so it's easy to overlook this hideway in a property search. It's the Elmhurst neighborhood, with its tree-canopied streets and vintage character.
This is a 3-bedroom bungalow with mostly hardwood floors. It has a brick fireplace in the living room and a nice floor plan. The dining area is located off the kitchen, and the kitchen has updates: laminate flooring, newer cabinets and counters, a gas range, dishwasher and a refrigerator. If you want personal fixtures, you need to ask for them in the contract.
The master is part of an addition off the back toward the gardens. It has cedar paneling, built-in bookcases and a desk, plus the closet holds a washer and dryer. There is also upgraded lighting.
The floors could use refinishing, and the master a little bit of work but overall the home is ready for occupancy. It has a newer HVAC and a tankless water heater, which should help to reduce energy costs. The fenced back yard has been landscaped and sports a newer stone patio, plus a dog run.
