Rental Listings Lead to Identity Theft
Today the California Association of Realtors(CAR) sent an email letter out to Realtors
letting them know that would be renters are reporting that people are listing rentals on Craig's list to scam and commit identity theft.
CAR received the information that was reported in the Smithville Herald News stating that the scammers put rentals on Craig's list offering a "to good to be true" rental offer so that they can get lots of people applying for their rental when all they truly are after is the rental application so they can steel the would be renters identity.
If you are looking for a rental I would enlist the help of a Realtor of a professional property management company.
Unfortunately the old saying goes....if it sounds to good to be true it usually is. In today's tough economy I hate to see people the victim of identity theft.
