Here is a great opportunity to assist the community.
I read the Patch from St. Michael, Minnesota, to get the news of what is occuring in the community at large. They have a great staff, and I am so grateful that we have an on-line daily paper.
This morning I read about a community event scheduled for this evening called Community U-Knighted. (The mascot of the high school is the St. Michael-Albertville Knights).
This event is open and free to the public. It begins at 5:45 with a dinner and the presentation will begin at 6:30. It will be held in the new City Center.
The focus of the group is to improve race relations within our rapidly growing community. And, as the Superintendant put it, "When I got here, diversity meant you weren't Catholic." I can vouch for that!
The evening's presentation consists of speaker Andre Koen. Koen's background is in consulting corporations, governments and communities on diversity and race relations. Topics he's touched on include working with a diverse staff, getting rid of prejudice (race, age or sex) in the workplace and changing views in communities throughout the Twin Cities.
This is important whether or not you have children enrolled in school, and I urge you to attend.
