The Mystery Behind the Re-build-able Home on Oak Island Beach

Where should I start the story?  At the beginning, but don't expect the story to be verbatim, and my sources will remain anonymous for their protection and mine. You never know, I might be paid big bucks for the information I am about to reveal.  Seriously, are you kidding, who is writing this story anyway?  I am, now go away ~ Sorry about that ~ That was the naughty, worrier side of me ~ always worrying about paying the bills ~  She can't help herself, sometimes she slips out ~

So now where were we, the story ~  Here we have a lovely couple who are looking to invest in an oceanfront home in Oak Island.
I work diligently, researching into the wee hours of the night for homes in their price range. What is this I see, some listings have comments about non-re-build-able lots and re-build-able lots. Hmm, I think I will email the agent and ask what this is about. Forget it ~ they never respond ~ call them instead ~ okay, okay, I will, quit your worrying ~ slipped out again ~

Without mentioning any names, I will say that some agents do not have a clue about  whether their home that they have listed can be re-build-able or not. I think some don't even know what I am talking about. How in the world do you list a home and not know if the home is re-build-able or not??

Back to researching I go ~ Oak Island ~ Spoke with a wonderful person who explained beach erosion and static vegetation lines, why some homes on some lots can be re-built and some can not. This wonderful person explained that in order to determine if a home could be re-built certain measurements are taken ( I have the "secret numbers) from the static vegetation lines. She provided the number of a person to call to get the aerial photos of the homes on Oak Island my client liked.

Interesting information ~ spoke with another wonderful person that asked me to email her all the PID numbers and she would email me the pictures. Once I received the pictures, I was instructed to call the first wonderful person back at which point she explained where the static vegetation line was and how to measure to find out whether the home was re-build-able or not.

It was amazing to see how many homes would not be re-build-able if a major storm or fire destroyed more than 50% of the home.

The mystery is solved ~ except I don't plan on revealing the secret numbers. Anyone who is interested in buying a home in Oak Island that is oceanfront will have to call me ~

Hi Karen - The more I read here in AR, the more I learn! I've never heard of this, but I can see where it would make sense. I love the way you wrote it!

You did lots of work to get the information, you should keep the secret. Great strategy to have clients call you. Now you made me curious about re-build-able lots - I will be doing research into the wee hours of the night.

Hi Frank and Karen, information is power.  How many people have bought homes and do not realize that in the case of a loss they will not be able to re-build?  What a shock!

Leah ~ Unfortunately there are some areas where beaches do have erosion and it is better to be aware than not ~
