Friday's Fotos ~ It's the Sharp Eye that Gets the Shot…
It's not unusual to see several photographers on my morning walk around the lake. Oftentimes, we aid each other, telling them where wild life may be lurking or there is an interesting shot around the next bend. Since, I am usually walking at the crack of dawn, I often see things that are often missed by others.

Walking the south shore, I saw several camera toting jocks hoofing it down the beaten trail, lugging what seemed to be several tons of cameras and lenses. Asking the usual, "Anything interesting?" "No, haven't seen a thing", they all replied.

Oddly enough, not more than 10 yards from where we were standing, I spotted this pair of wood ducks
in a small duck weed filled bog. I reckon that the moral of the story is that while the early bird gets the worm; it's the sharp eye that gets the shot...

Michael, why don't you keep all those Canada Geese that are heading our way and send up a few pair of those beautiful woodland ducks ;-)

Hi Michael,

For most. wild life in it natural setting is often seen with the naked eye at a distance. With glass that can bring it into detail, we are so fortunate to recognize what is naturally beautiful but in close up is actually remarkable. With cameras finally becoming so prolific and people learning more about photography in the last few years, generations are beginning to see the real hidden beauty of macro life, sometimes for the first time.  Children will be the real beneficiaries of  the continued unveiling of the macro world in our own neighborhoods. We are learning that a Duck in the distance may be just a duck but in closeup, it is a true work of art. Great shot.

Great photo...again Michael. But what I want to know is how much wood could a wood duck chuck if a wood duck could chuck wood?

Maybe the other folks toting their tons of stuff were to loud and the ducks were hiding.  Either way my friend this is a nice photo.

Terrific shot!  I'm inspired now to take along my small camera (or smartphone) on my morning jogs.  I used to do that and could snag great unexpected shots.  Thank you for the post and the motivation to get going!   Caroline

Hi Michael - It is amazing the things that others miss, and I am glad you didn't miss this shot!  Not only are they colorful on their own, but throw in the green of the pond, and you have an amazing shot.  I spotted my wood ducks in a tree as my office is up in the trees.  Most people don't even know that we have wood ducks in Connecticut!
