Yakima Team

The other night I was writing up an offer on one of our listings with a family I had recently met. They interviewed me with plenty of questions about our company, the local market and my abilities. I live in this area and understand it well! It was a great experience and they seemed like knowledgeable buyers. We wrote up the offer while one of their daughters was there.

She explained that she purchased a home about eighteen months ago and further explained the experience. They did not use a Realtor and the deal did not go smoothly. They own the home and enjoy living there, bit want to move closer to their parents. She asked me if I sold many homes in her neighborhood.

Instead of telling her that I had to attempt to get the listing, I said that I had only sold two in the area. Then I explained that we have a group of agents and one of our best lives close to her and knows all about the area. I said that if she gave us a chance, I would bring this Realtor along. After all, she knows the area and I know they would have much in common.

She is not ready to sell, but I will be following up. Sure, I want to list plenty of homes, but one of my agents may be a little more knowledgeable about the area. This client would get the very best service from us working together!

Yep. It's good to be on a team where there are others with knowledge you lack and vis versa. It makes all of us stronger.

Great example of team work and how to win over a seller. Always remember, there is NO "I" in Team Work...unfortunately, some of us forget. Good luck with that client in the future.

You mean actually do something that benefits a seller?  Unheard of!  Great post.  The mass exodus of part-timers and full-timers working part-time will get us back to what is important...doing what is right for our clients.  A complete focus on the client will yield much more to the agent in the long run.

Independent contractors working for commissions working as a team is an uphill battle. For years before I became a Realtor, I worked in a salaried sales position and teamwork was something all colleagues took pride in. I'd love to hear some ideas from Brokers and Sales Managers in our field that have had success with teambuilding.
