The Earl Smith Strand Theatre on Marietta Square will present a very special performance this weekend. The Cobb County Center for Excellence in the Performing Arts at Pebblebrook High School returns to The Strand for the dazzling musical, Ragtime this March!
Set at the dawn of the 20th century, Ragtime features rollicking ragtime music and soaring ballads by Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens. By weaving historical figures like Emma Goldman and Booker T. Washington into a fictional tale of people from very different backgrounds meeting under very difficult circumstances, the hit musical tells the story of America as it went through sometimes glorious, sometimes violent social upheaval. Ragtime paints a nostalgic and powerful portrait of life in turn of the century America by intertwining three distinct stories illustrating history's timeless contradictions of wealth and poverty, freedom and prejudice, hope and despair, love and hate.
The highly regarded theatrical program at Pebblebrook High School, features Frank Timmerman, Bob Adams and Cindy Mora along with other extremely talented students in the production.
Don't miss this amazing one-weekend only showing of Ragtime! Tickets are $15 and are available through The Strand's box office. Show times are: Friday, March 25 at 8 p.m.; Saturday, March 26 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, March 27 at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m.
