Cincinnati skylinePaying It Forward:  Getting YOU Matched with the RIGHT Real Estate Agent!

You might think as real estate agents we'll take any client that comes our way, no matter where they want to buy or where they want to sell, but the reality is we want our service to match the needs of YOU the client!

Could we theoretically take the square peg into the round hole approach?  We could, but that's not the way we do business, because at the end, we want ALL our clients to be raving fans!  We can't get that result if we're working outside of our area of knowledge, so we don't go there!

While we might visit downtown Cincinnati, we DON'T work there!  We don't know the ins and outs of THAT particular market, just like those agents don't know the particulars of selling a five acre home with a pole barn!  What's a pole barn?  Septic system??  Want to talk specifics of aerobic vs. mound systems?  Ewwwww....  See what we mean?  It's not like we're doing a country mouse/city mouse thing....but markets are different and you need to know YOURS to be great at what you do.

The RE/MAX website offers us leads based upon zip codes, so of course if someone is interested in our area we accept the assignment.  In essence we're volunteering to be your real estate consultant and work to serve YOUR needs.  In most cases, you're NOT ready for help yet.  You'd like access to search homes, maybe ask the occasional question, but otherwise looking for a no hassle experience.  We recognize and honor that!   When YOU need us, we're there for you.

But what happens when your desired living area moves out of our service area and you're ready to start looking at homes?  Well in that case, we transfer YOU to an agent in our office that can BEST help you.

Our RE/MAX Elite office has a pretty diverse geographic area, covering from South Dayton to the Greater Cincinnati area, including a few agents who can also help on the Kentucky side of the border.

We're northern Cincinnati to southern Dayton, basically suburbia and rural, so we'll transfer your account to one of the other agents in our office if you need a more urban agent.  That way YOU get the most knowledgeable agent for YOU.  No charge to you from us, no charge to them from us, we just want YOU taken care of!  You get the service you expect when you contact our brand, and that's enough for us.  And we hope that if you ever hear of someone who needs help that IS in our market area, that you remember us! :)

"I do not share my stories of paying it forward for recognition.  I share them so that others might be inspired to do what they can, when they can, where they can.  No more, no less."  Tish Lloyd, North Carolina REALTOR®

Liz & Bill - I don't take this approach either, I've referred clients who bought 25-30 minutes away from me, but I didn't know the area well.  Could I trying faking it? Yep, but that's not who I am.

Michelle, Same here.  It doesn't look good when you start driving down dead end streets after missing a turn :)

Liz and Bill....I would do the same thing & have referred clients to one of my associates who covers a different area.  It is in the clients best interests.

Liz and Bill, I do not go out of my area to show property.  It's not fair to my clients or me.....I hate getting lost when I don't know where I'm going.

I help brokers build businesses they love.

So what are your thoughts on an aerobic digester such as a multi-flow vs a hybrid mounded installation?

I love talking poop...

...and how far down do you have to go to get decent water?

Donna, We don't want to take on more clients than we can fully serve, nor those that want areas we can't properly serve.  A win for everyone that way :)

Christine, It's funny from how far away people will call you to come work for them, realistically for us, about 1/2 hour drive is our max unless it's in an area we used to live.

Kay, Despite GPS and online maps, they're not always right, and it's not fun to realize that connector road on the map doesn't exist in real life.

Leslie, Not my favorite topic, but one we have to be aware of here!  We had a stretch of a few months where the ONLY kind being authorized was mound, fortunately the state EPA came to their senses and rescinded.  Was way expensive to go that route.

I endorse your attitude. However I want to make one comment on dead end streets - GPS.

Maya, Even when working our area we've run into cases where the maps/GPS were flawed....the connector street between the two developments was actually a playround!  Whoops! :)

It's the right approach BLiz! It's always best to 'pay a client forward'  Even though like you said you could easily drive to the area, we don't know what neighbours are best, the schools etc. Its such a diservice to try and 'do it all'.!

If I was moving to your area I know the Bliz Team would be perfect fit for Ted and myself. Anyone reading your blogs can see you blend fun & smart business sense into the perfect package!!!

Besides your client can get bulb planting & gardening advice too!

Al & Peggy, We can only properly take care of so many clients, so just makes sense to hand off those we can't best take care of :)

Cynthia, After last fall, would love to retire the bulb planting aspect....but somehow I'm betting Liz will want to put some more in the ground :)  Bill
