Facebook Fridays - Have You Tried Facebook Ads?

We all hear about Facebook pages and about friends and about fans. You may promote your business on your profile page or on your business page or you may completely ignore Facebook.

Have you ever heard about Facebook ads?

You can design an ad to promote a listing, your company, your Facebook page or almost anything that you can conceive.

Then best of all you can target the audience that will see the ads. You can pick a certain location, a certain age certain interests or find more criteria to get the ad to the people you want to see it.

You can pay by view or by click-throughs. You can have almost any size of budget.

And now Facebook is even testing ads that will target real time conversations on Facebook. So if someone in your community mentions looking at a new home, your ad will immediately be seen on their Facebook page.

Hi Gary,

we did actually try the facebooks ads, it is easy and quick, not sure how effective, but traffice did go up on our pages, we would need to be more actually involved on facebook rather than just repostingfrom AR to get a better read on how people respond to it.

Michelle, The 24-48 hour lag does seem too long. I see their point but I would like to do many things quicker. Since they are experimenting with targeting real time conversations, I hope it will lead to faster response times.

I tried putting listings up on FB. I did it for several months. It wasn't expensive but when you consider that I didn't get anything from it I don't know that it was worth the little I paid for it.

Judith, Thank you for the feedback. That is exactly what I wanted from this post.

It sounds like listings would be difficult to get a response unless you could really find a way to target exactly - maybe with the new real time ads if Facebook goes beyond the current tests. Then, if a person in neighborhood A writes something on their wall about looking for homes and if Facebook has a mechanism to let your ad about a home in that neighborhood start showing up to that person, it might work.

Maybe a more of a more institutional ad - such as visit my website, where they could start to learn about me or search for listings, etc. might be an approach.
