Curb Appeal Your Neighbors will Love!

By

Want to be a good neighbor? Besides helping each other with the picking up the mail, feeding the cats, and helping out the elderly ones, which are ALL really nice to do, the best way you can help out your entire neighborhood is to improve your home, especially the curb appeal.

We all have some neighbors you see pulling weeds, mowing the lawn and doing odd jobs around the house to make look it look nice. There are also the neighbors who hire contractors to do these jobs. Whatever it may be, sprucing up increases value, and if you are selling, makes buyers really want to come and see the inside. With a little money, some effort and elbow grease you can transform your home quickly.

Few tips:

  • Freshen up the front porch- entry way is the focal point!
  • Repaint the porch
  • Add a sweet little flower bed or two
  • Makeover the mailbox
  • Pull weeds and mulch
  • Replace the hardware on the doors
  • Replace gutters and downspouts
  • Add shutters
  • Dress up the driveway with brick or pavers and reseal
Some of these ideas will take a few hours, others a weekend. Walk around your yard and make a plan. Your neighbors will appreciate your efforts; freshen it up and be an inspiration to your neighbors!

Now that winter has retreated in my neighborhood, outdoor maintenance season is upon us. It won't be long before people are raking and burning leaves. refreshing flower beds and pruning roses and shrubs. Daffodils and tulips have already pushed leaves out of the ground.

Great tips Suzanne.

People need to go across the street or down a house or 2 to see what others think. Most times they just pull in the driveway and go inside.

Stop and see what your neighbor or potential buyer thinks when they really look at your home.

Enjoy the day

Super ideas, Suzanne.  These will really help if you are selling or if you are staying.  Also, I heard painting (or changing) the front door can help.

Oooops...I'm not a 'D'-ok to comment?  :>  The sooner you can get this stuff done, the better your place looks, but also sets the tone for the rest of the neighborhood...
