You've heard of mononucelosis? You've heard of Mono Lake? You've heard of Mono syllabic? Another Mono you may have not heard of is Mono Mania.
We should be
Avoiding Mono Mania In Life.
You see it with cross country or marathon runners where they forget they can't run HARD every day but need to cross train with cycling or swimming for variety and get other muscles in play and some in rest. Think of RESTING your mind as well with this kind of mix up.
Look at bloggers that blog incessantly day after day even on the same theme like political or Localism or listings. Mix it up. What about your life? What is in it BESIDES social media? Those that are on Facebook 12 to 14 hours a day. What about hobbies like the "church lady" who is always voluntering her time at church? A good cause but not SINGLE focused but CRAZY focused. All our hobbies or STRONG love interests can turn us into mono maniacs. Life should be about balance and variety. Do not see your whole world about Mickey Mouse all Mickey all the time. Perhaps another day tune into something else.
It is good for your life. It is good for your soul.

Carl: I am all into NOT DULL like you.
Barbara: If it works and you are happy, just go for it!! Key is, don't get burned out on something. If you do, you've gone too far.
Randy: I like the COLOR of life too.
Jon: Glad there was a little of that inspiration going for you...
So true Gary, Mixing it up daily will keep boredom from creeping!
Essential post...very important to mix it up. Thanks, Gary!
Gary it amazes me how people can spend their life on facebook or whatever focus they've got. I so agree - life is like a banquet - don't eat the same stuff over and over. How boring and certainly living inside the box and not even close to the edge!
Gary,
I live with and share a wife a cat, Kat is into mono-napping!
I'd rather endure the mono... than listen to the mono-toned!

Gary, it's my nature to mix it up. Trying to get on a schedule is so hard for me because I can do it for a week, then I'm b-o-r-e-d! I do understand what you mean about variety and setting good habits goes along with that. Point well made. I don't understand the people who are on FB and twitter seemingly 24 hours a day. They must be auto-posting but can't be when they are responding. Where is their other life?

Banana--thank you for the breadcrumb trail to this!
(See, I went sideways just from this comment. HAHA!)
Gary, I think highly creative people have trouble going in a straight line! :)
I go thru phases . . . but they soon pass. HAHAHA!
Gary~ What great words of advice. It's so easy to get involved and single minded. I think it makes us all a little stale after awhile.
Hi Gary...it is always the question of living on the edge or living in a rut for me...I am such a creature of habit. I do need to step out a bit...thanks for the encouragement!

Gary,
So true...I do try to mix it up now and then....and you know...the older I get...the wiser I get... :)
Gary, good luck with the Rock and Roll 1/2 marathon tomorrow! You see and experience all sorts of variety in that race. A new band every mile. Some runners will be dressed up. Some will be awesome. Some will struggle. I hope you have fun first and foremost.
Thanks for the reminder Gary. There are alot of great examples here in AR, I need to change it up a bit too.
Hi Gary...I love to mix it up in my blogs and in my life. Always have and always will. Being spontaneous and always making time for family, friends, and myself is important to me.
Thanks for your consistent (but never boring) inspiration.

Gary:
I want to avoid getting "mono-tonous" but, mono A mono, this is a mono-poly of the meaning of mono...
but then I might be viewing this ... out of mono-logical order.
I ran out of "mono" things to add.
Great Blog!

Steven: I am similar with the brain dead with monotony and love to break things up.
Dorie: Mono Mania is like single focus CRAZY. Not good to get that way.
Lori: You are a wise cookie : )
Sondra: Thanks for your encouragement with the race, and I did just fine (I didn't die ha ha) and you were right about the variety of people and the lively bands on the course.
Mike: Just having some variety even with the blogging adds lots of stimulation to your writing.
Kate: You always give us many examples of mixing it up, and I love it !!!
Tom: I love all your mono terms. I'll take a monorail right to your apartment investments : )
Gary, good words to live by. Great comparison. Being "mono" in anything can't possibly good. I like your ideas of veering away from the same topic day in and day out. You do get writers block after a while. I'm going to take your advice and write about a plumber I just met and about my personal ministry experiences. Thanks Gary.
