Very important post! I was nearly wiped out on the freeway yesterday by someone texting and driving. I was alone and he was with his entire family towing a boat. He pulled right out in front of me, forcing me off the road. All because he was busy on his phone.

Texting is banned and a fineable offense here, Lynn. I think it should be that way everywhere. I mean most people can't talk on the phone and concentrate on driving!

Horrible stats....it is funny(not)..I went out for a coffee this morning and their was a car coming at me from the other lane...young girl looking down in her lap....you just know she was texting....thank you for my horn grabbing her attention.

Peg and Sharon, thank you for your comments. Texting While Driving is banned in most states. The research indicates that accidents and deaths from Texting While Driving will exceed alcohol related accidents and deaths. Not everyone will drive after drinking but many will Text While Driving. The research also shows that Texting While Driving is equal to drinking four beers.

Dennis, most don't see Texting While Driving as a problem. We are being shaped by technoligy to use all the tools and gadgets.
