Hello Everyone!
We are so excited that spring has sprung! Buds seem to be poping up everywhere, flowering plums are in full effect, and my rhubarb is already 10 inches tall. It's time to start planning the garden. Yahoo!
However, first things first, we are looking forward to our March event. We will meet on Tuesday March 29th at Niche in downtown Vancouver at 1013 Main Street. They are opening up specially for our event. So look for the Vancouver greendrinks sign outside to know they are ready to welcome us in. :-)
We will hear from Oso Martin from Empower Up for our 5 min spiel. In the meantime, check out all the great programs they have that benefit our community.

Organizational Overview: Columbia Riverkeeper is a successful environmental conservation and advocacy nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting and restoring the Columbia River watershed. We have offices in beautiful Hood River and Portland, Oregon and White Salmon, Washington. Columbia Riverkeeper's work is regularly featured in local and national media, including recent articles in the New York Times and Wall Street Journal. We work with a diverse group of agencies, Tribes, businesses, and grassroots organizations to protect and restore the Columbia River. Columbia Riverkeeper is part of the Waterkeeper Alliance, which is led by Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
Position Description: The Development Coordinator reports to the Executive Director (ED) and is responsible for assisting the ED with aspects of fundraising. The Development Coordinator will assist the ED with:
Supporter Base- Maintain database and assist with strategies to build supporter base
Major Donors
Corporate Relations
Event Planning
Grants: Assist with writing and tracking grants
Other duties as required. Location: We prefer that this position be based in Portland, but there is some flexibility.
Job Type: Full Time
Compensation: $32,000 to $38,000, commensurate with experience, health insurance stipend and generous vacation package
Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have experience in development and be able to cultivate relationships with the foundation and donor community. The Development Coordinator will be personable, energetic, creative, well-organized, independent, and hard-working. The Development Coordinator will have a strong commitment to public interest work and share the Riverkeeper's commitment to a growing a financially strong organization. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, a good sense of humor and will be able to function in a small-office, highly-collaborative team environment. All staff members are expected to help with basic office functions. Computer proficiency in a PC environment is a must. Familiarity with the following is required: word processing, spreadsheet and budget management, email and internet research. Graphic design and layout is a plus. Will need to learn database software.
