My HGTV Experience...part 1

By

High Noon Entertainment is working in our area filming sellers and their homes for "My First Sale".  All the realtors in the area got an email back in the fall and I sent it off to one of my clients and asked if they wanted to participate - but they declined.  Understandably so, their lives are very busy!  A few months later I received another email, High Noon was looking for more sellers.  I had just begun working with another first time seller and sent the application off to them and asked if they would be interested.

They jumped on it.  They completed the application - asked me to fill in my part.  We got a call that they wanted to do a casting video of us.  My seller (husband) is originally from England.  I swear he helped us get accepted.  How can you not love to listen to that accent?!

The adventure was off and running.  First line of business was to line up my stager for the project. .  HGTV wouldn't accept us if the home was vacant so this was an important step in making this all work out!   I reached out to a wonderful stager, Nanette Robinson of Lake Norman Home Staging and Design, and asked her if she would be willing to work with us on this project.  She agreed.  First off let me say Nanette has a heart of gold.  So sweet - easy to work with and she puts her heart into her work.  If it will have her name attached to it - it will look amazing.

Our first shoot was the listing appointment.  I've never had a listing appointment take so long!  LOL!  Film crew setting up, getting the lighting right, having to take off my necklace because it was making "clinking" noises that the audio guy could hear....    Long dangling necklaces are a no-no.  Must have sounded like I was dancing around or something, although I couldn't hear it make a sound!

I will say we have been working with some great crews.  The producer Toni that we have been lucky enough to get on most of our shoots is fantastic - and funny.  She is from Texas and as they say everything is bigger in Texas...   She makes long shoots enjoyable.  The audio guy is great - although his hands are ALWAYS cold when he connects the transmitter to my back.  And they really need to invent something to warm those transmitters up a bit - when they hit your skin it's mighty chilly!  The poor video guy - I am always asking if my hair is ok.  Thankfully Toni watches out for me and will come and fix it if it's sticking out of place!

First rule of thumb for realtors taking on this adventure - make sure you like your clients....you will spend a lot of time with them!

More to come on this exciting adventure.....

Mary: I believe this should be a HOW TO BE ON HGTV and what to expect tutorial so I suggested it!  It definitely sounds entertaining and worth following as you write of your experience.  We've had some of those emails sent to our area in Austin Tx. but I haven't had clients who fit there criteria....thanks for keeping me reading this lovely Sunday morning.

Cool. Sounds like a fun experience to be in the spotlight and see what actors and actresses deal with everyday.
